    Post Classify Nelly Furtado

    In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
    Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. (John 1:1-4)

    Post Re: classify this musician

    I would have guessed she is a Med-Nord mix... she definitely has that exotic Mediterranean appearance, but her stronger bone structure and blue eyes would make me think she is part UP. According to websites she is at least half Portuguese, I'm not sure if both of her parents are.

    Though she was born and raised in Canada, her Portuguese roots helped introduce her to Portugal and Brazil's top performers, giving a well-rounded international feel to her music often lacking in her counterparts.

    Her music is basically Pop, although I think she's going in a Negroid Hip-hop direction lately.

    I don't agree even though her ******-loving behaviour classify her with muds.

    6. Although we do understand justified anger, we strongly discourage the use of racial slurs, as such practices only shed a bad light on the offender, the board, and pro-European policies as a whole. We reserve the right to remove persons, though, who contribute little but professional hate-mongering. Guideline is the refutable thesis that whatever cannot be said without slurs and insults is not worth to be heard. -kriegsmaschine

    Re: Classify: Nelly Furtado

    She's Canadian of Portuguese parents

    "Furtado, a first-generation Portuguese Canadian, was born as one of three children in Victoria, British Columbia to Maria Manuela and Antonio Jose Furtado, working-class Portuguese parents from São Miguel Island in the Azores."

    Re: Classify: Nelly Furtado

    According to www.houseofnames.com, the name Furtado;

    Origin,
    From the historical and enchanting region of Spain emerged a multitude of noble families, including the distinguished Furtado family. Originally, the Spanish people were known only by a single name. The process by which hereditary surnames were adopted in Spain is extremely interesting. Surnames evolved during the Middle Ages when people began to assume an extra name to avoid confusion and to further identify themselves. Often they adopted names that were derived from nicknames. Nickname surnames were derived from an eke-name, or added name. They usually reflected the physical characteristics or attributes of the first person that used the name. The name Furtado is a nickname type of surname for a person who was kidnapped, imprisoned or known as the escaped one. This name is derived from the Spanish word hurtar, and the Late Latin word furtare, which mean to rob, conceal, or steal.

    Spelling variations include: Hurtado, Furtado and others.
