First I would like to say I am not racist, I am just interested in my European history and trying to gather as much as possible for self interest.

Multiculturalism is racism in a politically-correct guise. It holds that an individual’s identity and personal worth are determined by ethnic/racial membership and that all cultures are of equal worth, regardless of their moral views or how they treat people. Multiculturalism holds that ethnic identity should be a central factor in educational and social policy decisions. Multiculturalism would turn this country into a collection of separatist groups competing with each other for power.

Multiculturalism is a grave threat to this country. Multiculturalism is a threat to education: instead of encouraging students to question their assumptions and the assumptions of their parents and society, multiculturalism demands that students accept blindly what they’re given. Instead of encouraging reason and independent judgment, multiculturalism demands obedience to authority: the authority of the ethnic group.

Now what about the white people who don’t get admitted in University because they are white and they want more ethnic diversity? Why does that white person have to suffer? It’s because they are aiming for equality and trying to give everybody an equal opportunity. What is so equal about that? Since when did admitting the strongest students with the best academics become irrelevant? Since when does hiring the most educated adequate person for the job become unrelated? The traditional solution to the problem of racism is color-blindness, or, from the other side of that coin, individual awareness. For example, in the job sphere there are only three essential things an employer needs to know about an individual applicant: (l) Does the person have the relevant ability and knowledge (or the capacity to learn readily)? (2) Is the person willing to exert the needed effort? And (3) Does the person have good character, e.g., honesty, integrity?

The premise of individualism, including individual free will, which must be upheld. There is no way to bring about racial integration except by completely disregarding color. There is no benefit in being exposed to the thoughts of a black person as opposed to a white person; there is a benefit only in interacting with individuals, of any race, who have rational viewpoints to offer. A racially integrated group implies that skin color is irrelevant in judging human beings. It implies that those who chose the students or the workers based their evaluations only on that which reflects upon the individual: merit.

As a result of their efforts, the creed of "diversity" is metastasizing. There are now demands for "linguistic diversity," under which English teachers grant equal validity to ungrammatical writing—for "diversity" in beauty pageants, under which the unattractive are not discriminated against—for "diversity" in oratory contests, under which mutes are not excluded. These egalitarian crusaders for "diversity" seek to wipe out a standard of value as such. They want to negate genuine, life-serving values by claiming that non-values must be given equal status. What next?

That's my main problem with it- Multiculturalism encourages conformity in every aspect of life except race, gender, ethnicity, etc.

Other than that, I think it's a naive ideology for most folks, but who knows about its leaders? I'm not ready to throw out the possibility of some grand politically correct conspiracy.

    So what exactly is multiculturalism?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3600791.stm

    So what exactly is multiculturalism?

Trevor Phillips, chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality has called for multiculturalism to be scrapped. But does anybody actually agree what multiculturalism means - and is it a good or bad thing? BBC News Online asked a range of thinkers for a short definition.

    PROFESSOR SIR BERNARD CRICK
Chair of the 'Life in the UK' report which led to the new citizenship tests

I see no incompatibility between multiculturalism and Britishness. Britishness must be part of multiculturalism.

In the report I chaired advocating language and citizenship education for immigrants, The New and the Old (2003), we said:

"Who are we British? For a long time the UK has been a multicultural state composed of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and also a multicultural society... made up of a diverse range of cultures and identities, and one that emphasises the need for a continuous process of mutual engagement and learning about each other with respect, understanding and tolerance."

In other words, dual identities have been common, even before large scale immigration.

We further wrote: "To be British means that we respect the laws, the parliamentary and democratic political structures, traditional values of mutual tolerance, respect for equal rights..."

But Britishness does not mean a single culture. Integration is the co-existence of communities and unimpeded movement between them, it is not assimilation.

Britishness is a strong concept but not all embracing.

    RUTH LEA
Director of the Centre for Policy Studies, a centre-right think tank

There are two ways in which people interpret multiculturalism.

The first one is the more common way and that is every culture has the right to exist and there is no over-arching thread that holds them together.

That is the multiculturalism we think is so destructive because there's no thread to hold society together. It is that multiculturalism that Trevor Phillips has condemned and, of course, we are totally supportive.

There is another way to define multiculturalism which I would call diversity where people have their own cultural beliefs and they happily coexist - but there is a common thread of Britishness or whatever you want to call it to hold society together.

And that is clearly what I would support because you do accept that people have different cultures and you accept them.

It a positive acceptance not a negative tolerance.

LORD PAREKH, professor of political philosophy
Chair of the 2000 report, 'The Future of Multi-ethnic Britain'

Multiculturalism is sometimes taken to mean that different cultural communities should live their own ways of life in a self-contained manner.

This is not its only meaning and in fact it has long been obsolete.

Multiculturalism basically means that no culture is perfect or represents the best life and that it can therefore benefit from a critical dialogue with other cultures.

In this sense multiculturalism requires that all cultures should be open, self-critical, and interactive in their relations with other each other.

This was the basic message of my report on multi-ethnic Britain (The Future of Multi Ethnic Britain, Runnymede Trust 2000). As we argued in the report, Britain is and should remain a vibrant and democratic multicultural society that must combine respect for diversity with shared common values.

    KAREN CHOUHAN
Chief Executive of The 1990 Trust, a black-led human rights organisation

Multiculturalism is not dead, in fact it has been reasserted by government policy in the form of 'valuing diversity'.

Neither is it incompatible with an appreciation or knowledge of British cultures. To suggest otherwise is to turn back the clock on race debates thirty years.

To understand multiculturalism is to appreciate that it means many different things.

To some it is merely sampling different cultures, such as a carnival or a mela [South Asian festival]. To others, it is the road to challenging structural inequalities.

One of Britain's strengths is its diversity. Our political system is founded on different values. White British culture itself is incredibly diverse. But we cannot have cultural diversity without tackling inequalities.

We need to do is move forward with a serious debate about how far we have to go in tackling race discrimination in every corner of society, not move it back by forcing everyone to be more (white) British.

Most minority ethnic communities have made substantial contributions to the making of Britain and have made huge efforts to learn British history and language, and engage in civic society despite encountering social exclusion and racism in practically every area of public policy and practice. Let's not lose sight of this, or how far we have to go. Tackling racial disadvantage is the best way to engender a sense of belonging, being valued is a two-way street.

I very much doubt this. In my view, it is one of Britain's greatest weaknesses. It has already fractured society irreparably.

The multiracialists are never able to show in what way these minorities "contributed". What exactly is it that they have done that the natives could not have done?

I tried to play devils advocate against myself on this one, and the only things I could come up with were ethnic food and rap music (and new forms of criminality, but that doesnt really count methinks). And ethnic food can be imported without importing ethnics, and rap music is something I would gladly live without.

And BTW, when minorities do contribute, pay taxes and work, their contribution is usually lower than the native one. It lowers the BNP per capita if you import an immigrant instead of "creating" an extra native, since minority unemployment rates and criminality is usually higher than the natives.

You're damn right about the existence of "racial disadvantage". Unfortunately for you, it is inheritable, and most black and Pakistani children are born genetically inferior to their white masters. The only way around that for you people is genetic engineering - and lots of it!

The beauty of the multiculturalism and the future White extinction

This is funny in a tragic sort of way (from American Renaissance):

Luke, in reply to your question as to why the eradication of the white race is a good idea, here are a few liberal thoughts.

    1. The way of life in Africa, encompassing slavery, genocide, torture, cannibalism, dictatorship, famine, civil war, female circumcision, voodoo, witch doctors, aids, rape, child soldiers, child rape to expurge adult HIV et al, is quite clearly superior to "Western Civilisation"

    2. The way of life in the West, as carried out by "people of colour" encompassing high rates of murder, rape, gang rape, gang membership, illegitimacy, drug abuse, criminality, assault, grievious bodily harm, school drop out, hatred of whites, education, civility, police, laws et al is quite clearly superior to the traditional Western way of life they are seeking to overthrow.

Quite why Luke needs me to explain the basic tenets of white liberalism is quite beyond me. He should really be more socially aware and openly embrace diversity, multi-culturalism and the death of everything he holds dear with tolerant, liberal open arms.

    Post Anarcho-Tyranny—Where Multiculturalism Leads

    Anarcho-Tyranny—Where Multiculturalism Leads

    By Sam Francis

In Europe, if not in the United States, some people are beginning to grasp that just maybe they made a mistake when they decided to welcome millions of immigrants over the last several decades.

The most recent European to get it is former West German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, who has been making noises about the damage he and his colleagues have inflicted on their own societies.

Interviewed in a Hamburg newspaper last month, Mr. Schmidt confessed, "The concept of multiculturalism is difficult to make fit with a democratic society" and that importing thousands of Turkish "gastarbeiter," or foreign guest workers, into Germany over the last several decades was a bit of a boo-boo.

As the London Daily Telegraph reported the story, Mr. Schmidt, Social Democratic chancellor of West Germany from 1974 to 1982,

"…said that the problems resulting from the influx of mostly Turkish Gastarbeiter, or guest workers, had been neglected in Germany and the rest of Europe. They could be overcome only by authoritarian governments, he added, naming Singapore as an example." [Turkish workers a mistake, claims Schmidt, by Hannah Cleaver, November 25, 2004]

He's hardly the first to see this, although admittedly, at the age of 85, he's just a wee bit behind the curve.

As long ago as 1990, I wrote, in an article in Chronicles magazine,

"The late Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Ottoman Empire, and the dominions of the Habsburgs and the Romanoffs, among others, all presided over a kind of rainbow coalition of nations and peoples, who for the most part managed to live happily because their secret compulsions to spill each other's blood was restrained by the overwhelming power of the despots and dynasties who ruled them.

"Political freedom relies on a shared political culture as much as on the oppositions and balances that social differentiation creates, and when the common culture disintegrates under the impact of mass migrations, only institutionalized force can hold the regime together." [July, 1990, PDF]

That's a bit of a mouthful, but I gather it's what Mr. Schmidt was driving at. To have freedom on a stable political basis, you have to have a homogeneous culture and society, composed of people who share the same values and beliefs.

If they don't share them, you can hold them together only by force.

That lesson is becoming clear in Europe, where the brutal murder of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh last month by an Islamic fanatic shows what happens when you destroy homogeneity by importing fragments of alien and hostile cultures.

Much the same lesson ought to be clear in this country, not only from the 9/11 atrocities themselves but from the recent slaughter of six white deer hunters in Wisconsin by a disgruntled Asian immigrant.

"Society cannot exist," wrote the great eighteenth century conservative Edmund Burke, "unless a controlling power upon will and appetite be placed somewhere, and the less of it there is within, the more of it there must be without."

Restraints come from within when a population shares cultural and moral values; when they don't, external force has to provide the restraints.

Only a week or so after the murder of Mr. Van Gogh in Holland, the neighboring country of Belgium outlawed its main opposition party, the Vlaamsblok, for being a "racist organization."

The Vlaamsblok, which two opinion polls found was the most popular political party in Flanders the month before, was notable mainly for its strong opposition to immigration. That's what made it "racist" and that's why it had to go.

This month Great Britain simply arrested two of its leading opponents of immigration, Nick Griffin of the British National Party and the party's founder John Tyndall, on charges of "inciting racial hatred." Each, it seems, had made (in private meetings secretly taped by undercover informants) derogatory (or perhaps merely critical) remarks about Islam.

The arrests are transparent efforts by the British overclass to muzzle rising political challengers, but they're also part of the drift toward authoritarianism that mass immigration provokes.

We see the drift in this country, with the Patriot Act and its spawn at airports and in random searches of law-abiding citizens—all because our own overclass will not enforce standing laws against illegal immigration and does nothing to halt the transformation of American society by millions of aliens.

Unwilling to control immigration and the cultural disintegration it causes, the authorities instead control the law-abiding.

This is precisely the bizarre system of misrule I have elsewhere described as "anarcho-tyranny"—we refuse to control real criminals (that's the anarchy) so we control the innocent (that's the tyranny).

What is now becoming obvious in Europe, even to decrepit socialists like Helmut Schmidt, ought to be no less obvious to our own decrepit rulers here.

It's already obvious to those they rule.

All they need is a leader with the guts and brains to say it out loud.
