Cranberry and prune juices for detox. Trail mix and beef jerky for food. Push-ups, sit-ups, running and swimming for exercise. Sleep instead of eat when tired.

    Any Weight Loss Suggestions?
Wow! Now well into page 5 of this thread and the answer is an amazingly simple one ... EAT LESS!!!

Also, try and get as much exercise as possible in these sedentary times. The only way to lose weight (despite all the faddish diets and miracle pills on the market) is to burn more calories than you consume.

That was to be my suggestion as well.

I wonder if the OP ever became a police officer. He hasn't posted in 14 years. Six more and he could retire.

That is certainly an important factor, but an equally important factor is to manage one's macronutrient intake.

When consuming sugars and carbohydrates with a high glycemic index, like sweet fruits and processed grain products, the body releases insulin, which causes the body to prioritize storing the available fat in the system instead of burning it as fuel. When consuming foods containing a lot of fats at the same time as carbohydrates with a high g.i., the body has simultaneously a high insulin level as well as a ready access to fats. This combination acts as a highway to increasing one's fat storage, and a road blockage to primarily utilize the food as an immediate energy source.

Most of the foods that are known to be both delicious and fattening, like chocolate cake, ice cream, candy bars and potato crisps, all have both a high amount of fats and fast carbohydrates as well as very similar proportion between the two. It is not by chance that this combination feels so fulfilling. For most of our ancestral pre-history, humans have been living under the threat of starvation, and putting on as much fat as possible (within reason, of course) would have been evolutionary beneficial, in order to prepare for the next coming round of starvation. Hence our liking for such foods.

So, if one wants to lose or not gain body fat, don't mix these macronutrients together. Try eating either a predominantly fat-based meal or a predominantly fast-carb-based meal. And give your body enough time to properly digest the previous meal before switching macronutrients. Everyone is a bit different in this regard, but it takes about 45 minutes for high-g.i. carbohydrates, and at least two hours for fats to be mostly digested. That way, you avoid high insulin level and high amount of readily available fats to cross paths.

This guy gives a good explanation of the matter:

The problem is as one gets older you need less calories, but you still crave them as much and always leaves you feeling hungry.
Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

Loosing weight? Eat less, eat rightly but lighter food!

Another thing ... try to make long term exercises (uses/takes time? Sorry there rarely are shortcuts to happiness). Going gym and playing with weights? Makes good for your body (muscles, condition etc.) but might not help you so much to loose the weight.

Keto diet worked well when I was overweight, I lost 20 KG's in 6 months. I didn't count any calories and ate as much as I wanted.
The good thing about these high fat/low carb diets is that you feel less hungry during the date. I ate breakfast and a late dinner and that was fine. I did not feel low on energy.

I've not searched the thread for 'creatine' but if you're already muscular (like you mentioned) try out creatine. It will burn fat but stores water in your muscles while extending your sttength. Later on you can convert the water in actual muscle mass.
