Cro magnon descendents ( brunette) :
''The BASQUES are a unique group of people whose origins are somewhat shrouded in mystery. They are believed to be prehistoric inhabitants of Europe and possibly the direct descendents of Cro-Magnon man, who appeared in Eurpoe and the Middle East some 35,000 years ago''

''No one knows exactly where the Basques came from. Some say they have lived in that area since Cro-Magnon man first roamed Europe. Estimates of how long they have lived there vary from 10,000 to 75,000 years. Some say they are descended from the original Iberians. More fanciful theories exist, as well''

''The Basques are basically 'Mediterranean (in the wider sense) racially, with some brachycephalic accretion.''

''The first racial types identifiable as similar to modern Whites first appeared in parts of Europe, southern Russia and the Near East during the time period 30,000 BC to 15,000 BC, following the end of the last great Ice Age around the year 40,000 BC.''
''These first racial types occurred in two main physical forms: the original Mediterraneans ("Old Europeans") who had dark or brown hair and dark eyes; and then what is called the Proto Nordic or Cro-Magnon racial type - tall, light hair and light eyes. In certain isolated areas in Europe - centered in Scandinavia - it is possible even today to find perfect living examples of this Proto Nordic racial type, differing only slightly in height from modern day Nordics.

''Cro-Magnons as a group - to be regarded a race or subspecies of Homo sapiens - lived at least until 10 000 BC. For thousands of years they co-existed in Europe with the Neanderthals, which disappeared around 25 000 BC. Around 10 000 BC the ice age ended, and life became easier in Europe. People from other regions - Homo sapiens, presumably - migrated to Europe and interbred with the Cro-Magnons, which therefore as good as vanished between 10 000 and 2000 BC. People with apparently Cro-Magnon ancestry, called Cro-Magnoids, existed until about 2000 BC. Currently, only the indigenous inhabitants of the CANARY ISLANDS and the Dal people of SWEDEN are thought to be pure Cro-Magnon descendents''

Cro-Magnon descendents ( light ):
Brünn: Cro-Magnon, to some extent, found in solution with Borreby, Nordic, and other elements, mostly in Scandinavia and the British Isles, also in North Africa and the Canary Islands
Borreby: Large-headed brachycephals of Ofnet-Afalou type, the unreduced brachycephalic strain in Cro-Magnon
Alpine: A reduced and somewhat foetalized survivor of the Upper Palaeolithic population in Late Pleistocene France, highly brachycephalized; seems to represent in a large measure the bearer of the brachycephalic factor in Cro-Magnon ..(how about the pigmentation?)

''The distribution of red hair seems to be correlated to the distribution of Cro-Magnoid skulls. Some areas where Cro-Magnoid skulls were common in recent times are the Canary Islands, Ireland, southwestern Norway and Finland. Mallory believes that the early Indo-Europeans often had Cro-Magnoid features. He has photographs of sculptures based on prehistoric skulls believed to be early Indo-Europeans in Russia and Ukraine in his book IN SEARCH OF THE INDO-EUROPEANS. The caption says they are Cro-Magnoid. In central Europe, the Indo-European invasions seem to be associated with Nordic and Corded racial types. Harvard Professor Carleton Coon, in THE RACES OF EUROPE, expressed a belief that the Nordic Race was formed by a mixture of Corded Indo-European invaders and natives of the Upper Paleolithic type, which he believed to be partly descended from Neanderthals. Recent DNA studies have claimed that no modern humans have any Neanderthal genes, but these studies are badly flawed. During the Paleolithic, Cro-Magnoids lived in northwest Africa. The skulls at Afalou bou Rommel, in Algeria, are extreme Cro-Magnoids. They are associated with the Capsian Culture which extended into Spain, and is thought by some to be the ancestor of Basques and/or Berbers. Modern Basques are not Cro-Magnoid, however.''

''We know nothing of the pigmentation of the Upper Palaeolithic men. They are assumed by most authors to have been dark''
