    Your Favorite Contemporary/Mainstream Songs

So what are some of your favorite songs? Just a few of mine in no particular order:

Dimmu Borgir - Tormentor of Christian Souls
    Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song
    Led Zeppelin - Kashmir
Rammstein - Du Riechst So Gut
    Rammstein - Weißes Fleisch
Should the subduing talisman, the Cross, break, then will come roaring forth the wild madness of the old champions, that insane Berserker rage, of which the northern poets sing. That talisman is brittle, and the day will come when it will pitifully break. The old stone gods will rise from the long-forgotten ruin and rub the dust of a thousand years from their eyes; and Thor, leaping to life with his giant hammer, will crush the Gothic cathedrals!

    ---Heinrich Heine

    There are so many.......

Anything by Rammstein - particularly Das Alte Leid, Bett in Flammen, Mein Herz Brennt.......

What the heck...... I love all their songs. For me they are the greatest commercially successful Rock Band in the world!!! Will hopefully go see them live in June at "Fields of Rock" in Nijmegen.

Have none. I listen to a wide variety of music, whatever fits the moods at any given time, and it can be anything from Bing Crosby to NuMetallica, Hypocrisy and Cannibal Corpse to Simon and Garfunkel.

No favorite, but a wide variety.

Way, way too many to mention.

I'll list a few off the top of my head:

Sisters of Mercy: "I was Wrong", "Driven like the Snow", "Kiss the Carpet"

Joy Division: "She's Lost Control", "A Means to an End", "Heart and Soul"

Smiths/Morrissey: "That Joke isn't Funny Anymore", "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out", "William, It Was Really Nothing", "The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get", "Everyday Is Like Sunday", "Speedway"

Iggy & The Stooges: anything from the "Raw Power" album, especially the title song, "Gimme Danger" and "Penetration"

    Momus: "Tender Pervert"

Kraftwerk: "The Robots", "The Model", "Pocket Calculator"

    Radiopuhelimet: "Jokapaikan mies", "Jäätie", "Syvemmälle"

Tuomari Nurmio: "Aavaa preeriaa", "Suuri voima", "Kivinen tie" etc etc ...

Plus a ton of metal, folk and country artists, and... well, I really could make this post five pages long but the above artists/songs are the ones that have stuck with me through the years.

Arcturus, I think you were the one who liked Rockabilly music?

Maybe you know this version, but if you haven't heard it, see if you can find the Bryan Setzer Orchestra version of Steely Dan's Bodhisattva. Excellent cover.....

    Guilty

I've heard it, and its is excellent! I still can't believe my boss wouldn't let me off in time to go see the Stray Cats last summer...: Although many dislike Setzers music because he went solo (would have happened eventually anyway) I like his big band, I even bough the Boogie Woogie Christmas cd for my mom

    Interesting!

I'm not that impressed with his '68 Comeback Special, but the Big Band is certainly something worth seeing. Pity they don't tour much, especially outside the US. 00002:

I quite liked the song Hell bent, but must admit that I never really got into that album. I've only seen the Big Band once (or twice?) on Conan, and it sounded really good live! Heh, Conan's a rockabilly fan too. My man!

I was a big Rammstein fan a long, long time ago. This is before they were "cool". Heirate Mich, Seemann, Spieluhr, and Adios were my favourite songs. But after a while I just stopped listening to them. I guess I moved on to more "advanced" stuff.

Same thing with Metallica. I used to be the biggest metallia freak in my school. I had 3 or 4 metallica t-shirs, all their cds (of course), collectibles, movies, etc. Now it's all just gathering dust...

Unlike Burzum and Therion cds. The two greatest musical projects in the world today, IMO. I wonder if he'll ever make another record? Yet, the legacy lives on...

I also like Emperor, Bathory, Arcturus, Iced Earth, Immortal, anything by Dan Swano, even stuff like Rhapsody and Manowar... And of course classical music - Beethoven, Wagner, Mussorgsky, Glinka, Grieg, Orff, etc.
