Yes, America is an exception though, but the Commonwealth .. yes.

AW: People of the former colonies...

Yes, I would also say that -except USA- (it´s something different, I´d say) people of European heritage in former colonies belong to our "traditional" European folkgroup.

Yes the vast majority of U.S.Americans have a mentality a little bit different from their European Ancestors.Australians,Africaners etc are more close to European mentality than Americans!
If i must immigrate against Europe i would choose Argentina as very close to my GrecoRomancy heritage and mentality!

AW: People of the former colonies...

Do Europeans tend to view Australia, America (north and south), New Zealand and other countries that began as European colonies of some sort, as being pretty much the same? Socially, culturally, racially etc....
The United States, because of their importance, are mostly regarded for themselves anyway here. Canada and Australia are npticed here more or less as great, unaffected spaces covered with trees or sheep, respectively, into which one can drop out of all the turbulence here.

But generally, yes, the difference in many basic aspects between the Anglo-Saxon-North European-stamped former British settler-colonies and the Ibero-American world is certainly noticed here.

Sounds just about right to me.

I have some English-Canadian (ooops! hyphenation!! ) heritage and I've always wondered if I could use that to leverage citizenship and go stick my head in the Cape Breton Highlands in an effort to get away from this mess that we've made.

Strangely, there is no mention of Hispanic American Colonials in this statement.

Wouldn't they be included in the term "Colonials" along with Non-Hispanic American Colonials?

Would it not be rather strange if they did get a special mention?

My point was that there is specific reference to North America with no mention of the southern continent--in the passage that I quoted. Coincidence? I think not.

So, of course they (Hispanic Colonials) would fall under the broad parachute of "Colonials" but the lack of mention there and the specific mention of the Anglophonic north is curious indeed.

    Really though, it's no matter.
