    Sol Invictus

Sol Invictus imagery and lyrical content has shown consistent use of Heathen and Mithraist themes, often reflecting an antipathy to Christianity and the modern world's materialistic plutocracy. The 1997 album, The Blade incorporates an Odinic chant, Gealdor, into its varied laments. Wakeford has written from a melancholic position of doomed Romanticism, which laments the loss of beauty, love, and Culture. He sees Americanism as a scourge upon Europe, as expressed with pitch-black humour in his song, "Death of the West" from the album of the same name.

    Exclamation Sol Invictus

Their lyrical themes are very pagan, mystical and chivalric at the same time. The head of the band, Tony Wakeford, has obviously been influenced by Julius Evola and Oswald Spengler.

I particularly like the songs "Stay", "Our Lady of the Wild Flowers" (one of my favourites), "Looking for Europe", "Remember and Forget", The music is also very folkish in such songs as "Twa Corbies" and "There did three knights come", along with many others.
