    Post Kurganids

The Kurganids are the ancestors of the "Danubians" Coon found in the black-earth belt of Southeast Russian (Ryazan-Penza-Tambov area). Bunak says so in the opening chapter of Origins and Ethnic History of the Russian People. These are the direct descendants of the population that domesticated the horse and originated Indo-European speech. There are a lot of inane "Corded" fantasies making their way around the internet right now. There are no "Corded" populations anywhere in Russia that I am aware of; it is, however, chock ful of Kurganids/Danubians. Now all that remains is for you guys to bow down to your Aryan masters

Well I'm confused. I was thinking that you're 'Corded to the core'. Just teasing....

    Any examples of Kurganids?

[There is] is mesocephalic type, with a cephalic index of 79-80, inhabiting 16 regions within the area of the former Ryazan, Tambov and Penza departments. This zone is located between tributaries of the Oka river, tributaries of the Tsna and Moksha rivers, as well as the upper tributaries of the Don. Nowhere else in the area inhabited by ethnic Russians is such a high concentration of mesocephalic indices found. This type is also found among Erzya Mordvins [which would explain why all the Mordvins I know look Nordic]...
    ...
The Tambov-Penza type is more ancient [than the Valdaic type] and has to a great measure preserved the specialties of the ancient Kurgan population.
    ...

Excerpted and translated from Origins and Ethnic History of the Russian People Based on Anthropological Data p. 9, par. 4, p. 10, par. 2. Published by the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, senior editor V.V. Bunak.

Very interesting. Can we see some examples of these Nordids, either from Bunak (any illustrations?) or by you?

Are we speaking of modern types or rather palaeoanthropology?

Modern types. Kurganids still predominate in aforementioned area, among Erzya Mordvins, compose a good chunck of the Upper Volga population, and are sporadically found among Tatars.

The last two men in this sequence of photographs by Bunak (I don't know which book, though) are from the Don-Sursk zone, therefore Kurganids.

    % pure light irises (number 9-12) 41.8-60.7

Steppe zone (Tambov and surrounding area):

    Height: 165.9 - 168.0

    Cephalic index - 78.7 - 80.4

    Facial height - 123.4 - 124.6

    % of pure light irises - 32.5 - 47.6

    % light hairs - 25

    % of concave noses - 9.3 - 20.8

    % of convex noses - 9.7- 21.2

Both populations can be seen in either of two ways : small Mediterraneans, depigmented naturally, or small Mediterraneans depigmented partially through admixture with neighboring populations, with the Mediterranean element being stronger in the steppe zone. Since neighboring populations have darker eye-color, the first explanation seems more feasible.

One thing's certain, these people are the linear descendants of the people who originated Indo-European speech, and spread it across Europe. Coon classified them as 'Danubians'.

This kid from Ryazan is, in my opinion, an excellent example of a Kurganid: brown haired, light-eyed, doliochroscopic, leptorhine, etc..:
