    Norwegians least religious in Europe

A new study suggests that one in 10 Norwegians say they're not religious at all, while most say they're only moderately so. That makes Norwegians the least religious in Europe.

The survey, financed by the European Commission, asked respondents to rank how religious they were on a scale from zero to 10.

Only 9 percent of Norwegians questioned ranked themselves with an "8" or higher, reports newspaper Vaart Land.

None of the other 15 countries participating in the survey scored so low.

Norwegians also ranked low in church attendance. In Poland, on the other hand, half the population attends church services at least one a week, according to survey results. Greece, Ireland and Portugal also were on the other end of the scale from Norway.

Professor Harald Hegstad at the University of Oslo said Norwegians are "spiritually lazy." Earlier studies have suggested that while the vast majority of Norwegians are members of the state church because they're automatically born into it, only around 4 percent regularly attend church services.

"We have a sort of ritualized Christianity here that doesn't demand much of people," he said.

That automatically makes one wonder what benefit exactly does Christianity bring. Norway is probably the calmest, most peaceful, prosperous country in Europe, if not in the world. They don't have God, and they don't need him either.

Hubris and self-centeredness have their price.
And all my youth passed by sad-hearted,
    the joy of Spring was never mine;
Autumn blows through me dread of parting,
and my heart dreams and longs to die.

    - Nikolaus Lenau (1802-1850)

Real misanthropes are not found in solitude, but in the world; since it is experience of life, and not philosophy, which produces real hatred of mankind.

    LOL...

The concept of hell was designed to keep people from abandoning the church, and it has worked well in the past. Nowadays, as people are a little less superstitious, it has less influence. Most churchgoers are shitscared of the devil and hell, that's why they don't dare questioning the church or the Bible

The fact that one does not beleive in hell does not mean that there is no hell. And most people face their personal hell while they are still alive.

The fact that one believes in Hell doesn't mean that there is one. The more I learn about Christianity, the less I like it and the less I believe that it has anything to do with morality and goodness. Perhaps at some point in time there was something worthwhile about it, but that time is long gone.

I caught a documentary last night about the Gospel of Mary Magdalene. It painted a very different picture of the Apostles, especially Peter.

"Hell" was plagiarized from Norse goddess queen of the dead and underground Hel.

What moral code do they live by, something from the calm, peaceful Vikings?

If you have no heaven or hell waiting for you and no God to hold you accountable, that may be good for society while it is still predominantly white and Nordic. But as they get more and more nonwhites, "seeking your pleasures while you can" isn't as pretty a picture. The free love mentality, immorality, feminism/sexual liberation, liberal politics, egalitarism and nonwhite immigration creates a big racemixing orgy.
