A "progressive type" doesnt mean that all features are progressive, but the total impression, the total feature combination is finally more progressive than anything else, same goes for the other designations. To a certain degree that can be a numbers game: F.e. (hypothetical numbers) one type could have 10 progressive, 4 infantile, 2 primitive traits = progressive.

In brackets other, partly less clear and deviating examples!

First the primitive-archemorphic examples which represent the earlist sapiens strata:

Third the progressive-neomorphic and propulsive forms, general adaptation, no one sided overspecialisation, made for versatile efficiency:
F.e. (Skando-)Nordid (other: Cromagnid-Dalofaelid, [-especially robust boned-tall -] Mediterranid, Dinarid-Taurid, Iranid, Nordindid, Silvid, Nordsinid [-Sinids in general with more feminised tendencies according to Lundman-] variants):


Associated body type according to Lundman is "the virile", though in all progressive forms I recognised a range from juvenile, over virile, to mature, just the proportions might vary and vary in some for sure:


Though Nord- and Mittelsinids are obviously progressive too (compare with v. Eickstedt), they tend, according to Lundman, towards a more feminine form of the progressive group:


Borealised, cold specialised forms (shortened extremities, longer-broader trunk) can show otherwise all of the three tendencies, combinations with primitive (some Sibirid forms), infantile (Lappid), rather progressive (partly Tungid) traits.

this doesn't seem entirely accurate...northern/central chinese tend towards the "juvenile" and "mature" body types, quite similar in build to american silvids.



southern chinese are more gracile...and indeed often have a rather feminine body type. in the extreme north "boreal" types are found.

Yes, I think that for typical Nordsinids and partly Mittelsinids feminine might be not the best description, though they are still going in the direction of the picture from Lundman. The term is probably not the best too and otherwise I can just agree with you.

To make the position of various standard forms of racial types clear, I made a new graphic to show how the relations are if comparing racial specialisations and their position between the primitive (quasi starting point) and progressive or infantile development.

The graph is simple to explain, the closer to the respective ends, the more progressive, infantile or primitive, with those being between f.e. primitive and infantile being equally primitive and infantile (f.e. Bambutid).
The red colored types represent the extreme ends for a tendency and can be therefore considered to be the benchmark if comparing them with other forms: Tasmanid (or Australid alternatively since Tasmanids being practically extinct) for the primitive forms, Palaungid (mainland South East Asian form of Palaemongolids) for the infantile tendency and Nordid (Skando- and Eastnordid) for the progressive one.



Its just an approximation of course without any claim on being exact.

Agrippa, in this diagram i see nordids as the most progressive ones.
Does that means, atlanto meds, atlantids, are not so progressive, or it's just an error?

Basicly yes. Typical nordid traits like higher skull, stronger visible chin are usually considered as progressive. Of course other races or rather individuals are also progressive but nordids simply being the most neomorphic ones as you can see at those picture threads about progressives.

Well, they are the benchmark, but one could question that of course, since all groups which are Irano-Nordoid metrically and show the same morphological patterns can be considered being as progressive. Its the average which sticks out in their case and of course, it was not possible to put them closer. In fact the whole progressive "gathering in the progressive corner" is quite close. Its much more difficult to determine which group is more or the most progressive, than to determine which one is the most primitive, since the primitive traits are clear and obvious and there didnt survived as many primitive forms anyway.

However, individual Atlantomediterranids, Dinarids, Nordsinids etc. might be more progressive than a Nordid individual, but if its about the average, none of those groups is above the Nordid standard, which is why they are the benchmark. This doesnt mean the others are really that much below, in fact the whole corner is quite close obviously. One can see that the progressive direction is, or at least was before the dysgenic trends began to work on large populations, the dominant trend in human development.

To make it clear, I encircled all the more pronounced forms for the respective tendency:


One of the problems was simply space, since the progressive group is overall close, especially the leptomorphic/juvenile-mature and Cromagnid Europid group together with the Nordsinids. I just wanted to show as much as possible, which led to this. If possible I would have grouped them even closer, though its clear that f.e. the Nordsinids, though being very progressive, are already somewhat closer to the infantile pole than the progressive Europid Nordid, Atlantomediterranid and Dinarid group, Gracilindid being more infantile than Nordindid etc., so this made more sense than the order of the most progressive Europid types.
