    Re: Blood & Soil

Are you familiar with the works of Wendell Berry by any chance?

However, I dont feel cities per se are the problem. Rather the problem is finding the proper balance between rural and urban areas. Need we forget that much of our great cultural achievements occured in the cities.

    Re: Blood & Soil

    Hello Taras,

Yes, that's correct and my essay is primarily designed to attack modern city life with all the accompanying problems of mass overcrowding and detatchment from Nature, certainly not those bustling centres of culture from the past that have contributed so much to our European heritage.

As for Wendell Berry, I don't know a great deal about his work, to be perectly honest, but I'll certainly endeavour to check some of it out.

    Regards,
    TROY.

    Re: Blood & Soil

Long story short, Mr. Berry is perhaps America's leading writer on Agrarianism. His writings are also filled with calls for greater decentralism, along with the preservation and/or revitalization of local culture.

One essay of his that might interest you is "the Whole Horse", where he addresses many issues you raised; namely that urban and rural need not nor should be opposed but should be more closesly connected. Agrarianism is not anti-Industrial, but does insist that such industry should be runned locally by the community, so it can operate in a manner more respectable to the local enviroment as well.

It's found within his book Citizenship Papers, which itself is a wonderful text to read.

To me Blut und Boden only gave a label to what makes scientific sense to me for many years.

Our race is evolved to live in our climate. Our eyes, hair, skin, skull, enzymes are evolved to live in our homeland. No one should genetically be welcome in our homeland as permanent guests whether African or Roman or Greek. We are Norse, Germanics. Hail all of you.

And to those Europeans who are not Germanic hail as you as well. But we are distinct and that in itself doesn't imply inferiority etc.
