The importance of looks in the worldwide European-folk preservation world
If we look at various groups in the worldwide European-folk preservation world and compare them to each other, it seems obvious that their style of look is as different as they are many. The perhaps most popular look is the skinhead look, second to that there are the "normal look" and the 1920-1945 fascist and National Socialist look and then also the Viking/ancient look. I will in this article tell of how I see these looks and how I think about them.
The skinhead look most often involves a shaved head, tattoos, a bomber jacket, jeans, and army style boots. This to me is a very crude, unsophisticated look that makes these racialists who adhere to the skinhead sub-culture look like street punks. Skinheads often seem to have Third Reich and/or pagan symbols on their clothing and skin (as tattoos). I think the magnificent symbols of the Third Reich and the interesting meaningful symbols of our pre-Christian past do not belong on skinhead-type clothing. I think the symbols that often stand for discipline, honor and wisdom do not go with the street-punk-style of the clothing and they do not go with the chaotic street-punk behavior the skinhead so often seems to show. I think the overall skinhead style is bad, it is silly and those who dress like it look like they are anti-social, uneducated, unintelligent and full of emotions they can not express by other ways than dressing in a crude way and behaving violently. I think racialists into the skinhead sub-culture should reconsider their style and seek to dress in a more aesthetically appealing manner, and they should at least stop using symbols of the past which stood for discipline, honor and wisdom as their insignia.
The normal clothing look is a look which does not seem out of place in everyday materialist working and/or middle class society. The pro of the normal look is that racialists into that style do not draw unwanted attention nor do they seem anti-social. But the flaws are that the clothing in the normal style is often manufactured by judeo-capitalist company’s which use dishonorable measures in manufacturing and selling their clothing. Normal clothing is often manufactured in third world countries, the manufacturing method may be harmful to the environment and the look of the clothing may often seem aesthetically degenerate. Normal clothing may often have large corporate logos and I think the normal-style-look can make the racialists who adhere to it seem like uninteresting everyday people who go with the flow and it may even make them look unsophisticated slaves of the demo/plutocratic system. I think racialists into the normal style should reconsider their style and seek to dress in a more aesthetically appealing manner, and they should at least stop dressing in clothing sold by companies which manufacture in third world countries, put corporate logos on the clothing and/or adhere to some counter-honorable/productive activity.
The 1920-1945 fascist and National Socialist look often involves short-cut hair, shaved face, and then a military or party-member uniform from axis countries in Europe 1920-1945. This look may often seem sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing. Yet in today’s modern society it may seem very out of place and the racialist who adheres to this style may draw to him unnecessary attention, seem like someone who "lives in the past". Often the uniforms of 1920-1945 were only allowed to be used by people who had gained special ranks and/or passed certain tests, whether they are militaristic or political. So a white racialist today dressing as say perhaps an SS officer would be dishonoring the real SS officers of the Third Reich by dressing in their clothing without having gone through their training and or military trials. This style may involve using replicas of symbols and/or badges/crosses and/or other insignia which was gained by surviving in battle or by political activism, and in most cases the modern racialist who uses these symbols or badges/crosses on his clothing has not survived battle nor been awarded by some movement for activism. I think racialists into the 1920-1945 fascist and National Socialist look should reconsider their style and seek to dress in a manner more suited for today’s world, and they should at least stop dressing in clothing which was only suited for people which had gained the rank/status to dress that way.
The Viking/ancient look is a look in which racialists seek to look like a member of a people in some ancient time, be it the Viking era, ancient Greece, Rome, medieval times or some other time which is now passed. This style may often seem interesting, maybe even aesthetically pleasing, yet also it may seem silly and very much out of place in today’s modern society and the racialist who adheres to this style may draw to him unnecessary attention and/or seem like someone who "lives in the past". I think many racialists who are into the style of ancient-looking leather clothing do not hunt the animals themselves which are used to make the clothing. Often the material used for making the ancient-style look is fake stuff manufactured by factories, instead of made-at-home or at the local blacksmith or leather sewer. I think racialists into the Viking/ancient look should reconsider their style and seek to dress in a manner more suited for today’s world, and they should at least stop dressing in clothing which is made to look like the clothing people of ancient times made themselves, but is in fact factory made and sold at the local "Dungeons & Dragons store".
Now I think I have covered the most popular styles of the racialist movement, but other sub-cultural styles which can be mentioned are the metalhead look, the artistic/avant-garde look, the suit&tie look and perhaps the geek/nerd look. All these styles also have their advantages and disadvantages but in general are unsuitable for our time and vision.
One may wonder if these above mentioned looks are all unsuitable for people in the worldwide European-folk preservation world, what look is then suitable. I wonder also. I think the look of a member of the worldwide European-folk preservation world should be aesthetically pleasing, neat and sophisticated looking and based on classical yet futuristic ideas. I think the various different groups of the worldwide European-folk preservation world, should seek to minimize their sub-cultural-style tendencies and work together to create a style that makes them look united.
Looks are very important to people, consciously and subconsciously, weather they would like to admit it or not. Different styles are used by different people to express different views and backgrounds. The style of a persons look affects their lives much more than most people realize. Looks influence people in deciding in who is friend or foe. Many people of ancient civilizations realized this and spent much effort to control how they looked and to make their look serve its purpose. The National Socialist of the Third Reich knew this and understood the importance of clothing. For example the uniforms of the SS were designed to intimidate while being sophisticated, aesthetically appealing and having practical military purpose. I hope as many as possible members of the worldwide European-folk preservation world realize this also and use it to their advantage.
