I'm currently reading (online) Del Rinnovamente Civile d'Italia (Of the Civil Renewal of Italy) by Italian 19th. century nationalist Vincenzo Gioberti. This is part of my ideological research on historical Maltese nationalism, given the fact that Maltese nationalist Enrico Mizzi had once stated "i maltesi sono giobertiani nati!", "the Maltese are born giobertiani!".

I have too much on my plate right now:

    Books on computers:
    Unix in a Nutshell
    Learning Python
    Applescript: The Definitive Guide
    Guide to LaTeX

    Linguistics:
Handbook of Middle English, by Mossé (this is a reprint of the older hardcover; I'm reading the hardcover)
Old English: A Historical Linguistic Companion, by Lass
Old English and Its Closest Relatives, Robinson
    The Gothic Language, by Rauch

    Fiction:
    The Decameron, by Boccaccio
    Danse Macabre, by Hamilton
    The Last Templar, by Jenks
    Rhinegold, by Grundy
    El Cid, by Corral
    Ivanhoe, by Scott
    Dracula, by Stoker
    Jubal Sackett, by L'Amour
The Odyssey, by Homer (I'm reading a different printing, but the same translator and publisher)

    Assorted non-fiction:
The Wealth of Nations, by Smith
    Capital, by Marx
    Mein Kampf, by Hitler
    Greek Religion, by Burkert
Types of International Folktales: A Classification and Bibliography
    The Pirate Coast, by Zacks

    RPGs:
    Ars Magica 4th edition Rulebook
    various materials for Northern Crown
    various materials for Rune

This only counts the books I read with some frequency and that I can pick up where I left off. It doesn't count the (many more) as yet unfinished books that I would need to start over if I tried to return to them.

And this list doesn't include things like the Bible, which I am always reading; I just don't think of reading the Bible as reading — in my mind it's a different sort of activity.

The American Political Tradition by Richard Hotstadter
Its an account of the ideology of previous U.S. presidents and other political figures. Written fifty years ago.

    Critical Mass By Philip Ball
Ball explains how society moves according to physics. There is an interesting example of this when he writes on multiculturalism. Ball argues that when different races occupy the same space/neighborhood- 50% White and 50% Black- Blacks, the dominant object, will push out Whites, the loser object. In physics when two objects occupy the same space they will either merge, or one will destroy the other. Basically White flight explained through physics.

Don't have much time to read anymore, when I have time I read 'The Grapple' by Harry Turtledove. It's part of a lengthy series of alternate history novels in which the Confederacy wins the Civil War, and then fights another war with the US (the north) in the 1880s after they buy Sonora and Chihuahua from Mexico (CSA beats the USA again). Oklahoma is also part of the CSA. WWI breaks out with the USA as part of the Central Powers (aligned with Germany and Austria-Hungary) and the CSA is part of the Allies (aligned with Britain, France, Russia, and Japan). This one is won by USA/Germany, and a NSDAP-type party arises in the Confederacy with blacks as the primary target of their enmity instead of Jews. WWII breaks out with the same countries/sides as WWI, the Confederacy launches a 'blitzkrieg' led by General Patton but is driven back by the US. The book I am currently reading, 'The Grapple', parallels the Soviet victory at Stalingrad and counter-offensive against Germany (eastern front 1943-1944) but along the route of the original 'Sherman's March to the Sea'

Well in addition to constantly re-reading my Nietzsche library (of which I am currently re-reading Thus Birth of Tragedy) I am reading Northern Shores: A History of the Baltic Sea and Its Peoples by the English historian Alan Palmer.

"Are We Rome" (The Fall Of An Empire And The Fate Of America) by Cullen Murphy. Interesting book drawing the comparisons and differences between the Roman Empire & America. Sometimes a bit naive....but filled with many interesting parallels.
Bah! Enough of the squalor of democratic humanity. It is time to begin to recognise the aristocracy of the sun. The children of the sun shall be lords on the earth.
