This well written and easy to follow introductory book on the Celts (with an emphasis on war) and their interactions with the Greco-Roman Mediterranean world (especially the then expanding Roman Empire).

Lords of Battle: The World of the Celtic Warrior by Stephen Allen

    Currently reading a few books:

Secret of the She Bear by Marie Cachet (excellent if you want to grasp the true essence and meaning of paganism and ancestor worship)
Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan (was reading this long before the new Netflix series, prompted me to finish it)
Lord of the Rings (yes, much to my embarrassment I still haven't finished it. On Two Towers now. Actually starting to see Tolkien's flaws as a writer - his writing of characters and dialogue especially seems really contrived and awkward, might also be why he couldn't write decent love stories.)
dipping in and out of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
Various books on herbs and foraging.

"Ab 10 Jahren" it says on the cover, so my reading age has increased by 2 years in under a fortnight ...

... and I'll soon be ready for the grown-up stuff!

    And...

And planning to read this summer: "The Romans on their way to the Low Countries".

“Individuals trapped in a dying culture live in a twilight world. They embrace death through infertility, concupiscence, and war. A dog will crawl into a hole to die. The members of sick cultures do not do anything quite so dramatic, but they cease to have children, dull their senses with alcohol and drugs, become despondent, and too frequently do away with themselves. Or they make war on the perceived source of their humiliation.”
    — David P. Goldman, as quoted by Jack Donovan in The Way of Men.

I just received a copy this morning of Hitler's Hangman, The life of Heydrich by Robert Gerwarth, 2011.

It has received good reviews as an unbiased biography of my second favorite SS Mann.
American by birth, made of parts from Emmingen, Baden-Württemberg.

Sexual utopia in power: the feminist revolt against civilization
    F. Roger Devlin

Like many political revolutions, the sexual revolution of the 1960s began with a euphoric feeling of liberation. But when utopian programs clash with dissenters—and with reality itself—the result is chaos, which revolutionaries seek to quash with repression and terror. In Sexual Utopia in Power, F. Roger Devlin explores today’s sexual dystopia, with its loose morals and confused sexual roles; its soaring rates of divorce, celibacy, and childlessness; and the increasingly arbitrary and punitive attempts to regulate and police it. Devlin shows that the breakdown of monogamy results in promiscuity for the few, loneliness for the majority, and unhappiness for all.
