Please note that the so called western gene HG1 is present in the part-Mongol Turkomen at a very high level. It's also seen in such mixed groups as Dungans, Kazaks and Uyghurs, and even in the Mongols proper.

The same thing can be said about the Indo-European marker HG3. It's found in the Mongols and all the other mixed groups too.

How did these genes get there? HG3 is a Central Caucasoid Asian gene, for sure, so that's understandable...but what about HG1???

Yes I was extremely curious about the huge proportion of apparently UP ancestry in south-central Asian Turkic populations... does anyone have any ideas at all about this?

For this, I will implement my "diverse and multi-branched" theory regarding Hg 1.

Perhaps it so happens that several sub-lineages within Hg 1 are indigenous to the Proto-Caucacoid people of South Asia(61% are Hg 1 among Pakistani Hazara), who subsequently mixed with Central Asians, giving them their genes.

I'm now looking at a chart of HGs (similar to the one posted by Loki in another thread here) and it appears that the HG1 in Central Asia may actually be EU20 and EU21, not Eu18.
