Chemical Wedding is just the type of trash that one expects from Dickinson who believes in reincarnation and parallel universes above all else. And should it not have been titled “the Reincarnation of Crowley”? Dickinson is naïve to think that the OTO has links with Masonry, other than as a sick parody, but then again he has no sense for the absurd, defending his views by pointing out that it's either Crowley or fascism.

One might say that Iron Maiden was the reincarnation of UFO which is tolerable until Dickinson puts down his lyrics. Like his screenwriting abilities his lyric writing is horrendous and only gets worse in his solo career—songs about intimate relations with Zulus, gypsies, and Crowley make for an unholy trinity that one just cannot stomach. And so it goes with his movies, only the focus becomes even more perverted. Faced with the question Crowley or fascism or perhaps Dickinson or fascism I'd gladly choose the latter.

The Samis aren't often portrayed in films. Not even in the Nordic countries, although their history has some similarities with that of the Native Americans.

Here it's Norway in the early 1850s. The church and the tradesmen sell booze to the Sami men, but unofficial ways of Christianity saves them. This is a threat towards the destructive order and there are counterattacks, which leads to the rebellion.

The script is a little naive and Swedish actor Mikael Persbrandt's overacting doesn't make it better. But the historical environment is well painted and conflicts like this one are very rare in movies.

Yes The Watchmen was an excellent movie. I saw it on opening night. The premise of the movie was quite different; I quite enjoyed it, actually. The acting was well-done and the characters were well-developed as well I thought.

A movie well-worth watching on the big screen of course!

Harry Potter and the Scorcerer's Stone first seduces its young audience into rebelling against an “evil parentage” and then transports them to an occultist world in which everything is reduced to magic, an exercise upon material things, which the authorities of every ancient tradition denounced as an infantile distraction. Here all traditions are parodied and blasphemed in a syncretist mishmash starting with the Hermetic: the Philosophers’ Stone becomes a material “sorcerer's stone” * which is said to be the sole ownership of a real historical alchemist whose spirit roams the halls of Hogwarts. The good name of ancient philosophy is blackened with the association of sorcery which is that branch of magic involving bewitchments, curses, and necromancy. All of this leads up to the idiotic message of the first film which is that the stone ought not be used and is therefore destroyed by mortal hands! Rowling has made a fortune by this filth, which any intelligent, self-respecting people having any sense of a sacred tradition would ban and imprison the author on charges of heresy. That this is what passes for popular children's literature is really shameful.

    ------
    * The title change in the US version is actually more appropriate because the film has nothing to do with actual Hermetic Philosophy and everything to do with sorcery.
