Well, it's out: have you seen it and what did you think?
Anyone else with a personal review?

No - we're not able to get a babysitter until the 19th, but from the sounds of it, we'll probably go see Troy and wait for Van Helsing on video.

I've heard Van Helsing's been getting terrible reviews.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. (John 1:1-4)

I didn't like Van Helsing...even with the Kate Beckingsale factor.
Bubba Ho-Tep was kind of funny. An elderly Elvis Presley plus a black JFK versus an Egyptian mummy that sucks peoples souls from their sphincters. What could be better than that?

Looking forward to Alexander the Great / Amazing Spiderman / Garfield / The Day After / King Arthur

I just saw Girl With A Pearl Earring last weekend. Highly, highly recommended, especially for fans of art of that time period. Oh, and if you're a fan of red-haired women, you'll like it even more (all except one of the main female characters have red hair)!

Post Re: What have you seen? What do you want to see?

I am currently watching Stuck on you, but to be honest it was so boring that I took a break in the middle of the movie and returned to Skadi

It is about two conjoined brothers from a small town who go to the big city. It is supposed to be a comedy, but the distance between the jokes is a little too long.

Anyway, maybe we could bring this thread to new life and make it into a variant on the "Listening to right now"-thread. It would be interesting to know the last movies the rest of you saw, and if they are to be recommended (and if so; why/why not).

Then like myself, you are in for a major disappointment. It's alot of talking, very little fighting. The end fight is very anticlimactic.

Myself, I am looking forward to Der Untergang, a German language film about the last few days of the war in the Führerbunker.

I had meant to see this in Munich while I was there for Oktoberfest, but I couldn't find any movie theaters...even finding a laundromat was an ordeal.

It's coming out on DVD subtitled later this year here in America which is good since my German isn't good enough to follow a movie.

Looking forward to Constantine, opening here on 18 February. Typical good vs. evil flick, with Keanu Reeves.

Tillsammans (together). messed up families, cool kids, nice revisionist view of the Swedish 70s idealism "golden era", pretty funny, not as funny (I thought) as Songs from the Second Floor.

Finding Neverland, couldn't stand it. too formulaic, sentimental, hollywood all over. terrible.

Les Yeux Sans Visage. interesting 1960 french movie with a beautiful ending. about a doctor who steals women to try to replace his disfigured daughter's face.

i was going to see Gegen die Wand tonight until i found it what it was about. sounds like turkish-german assimilation propaganda.

i'm thinking of renting a movie called White Wolf about a dog that attacks black people. anyone ever heard of it or seen it?

Sorry, that movie should be White Dog (1982), not White Wolf.
    It's directed by Sam Fuller.

Too bad they try to reprogram the dog.
