Post Hong Kong Store's Nazi Theme Sparks Fury

    http://edition.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/as....ap/index.html

    -------------------

HONG KONG, China (AP) -- German and Israeli diplomats have lashed out at a Hong Kong fashion company for using swastikas and other Nazi party symbols in a clothing line and to decorate its chain of stores.

The firm, which calls itself http://www.izzue.com., produced a range of T-shirts and pants with Nazi symbols printed on them. One T-shirt has a portrait of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler standing on a laurel.

Red banners with white swastikas on top of iron crosses hung Saturday from the ceilings of some of the firm's 14 stores. The banners also carried a sign that resembled the symbol of the Third Reich: an eagle above a swastika. One branch broadcast Nazi propaganda films on a wall with a projector.

"It's totally inappropriate because these symbols of the Nazi regime stand for cruelty and crimes against humanity," a vice consul of the German Consulate General in Hong Kong said on condition of anonymity. "These symbols brought a lot of pain not only over Europe, but over the whole world. ... It's definitely not the way to promote clothes."

The diplomat urged the public to boycott the shops.

The company's marketing manager, Deborah Cheng, said the Nazi-themed decorations and clothes were not intended to cause an outcry and may be withdrawn. She said the company had received a few complaints from customers.

"We're seriously considering removing the displays. But before we take them off, we have to find a replacement," she said.

Cheng added that the designer wanted the clothes to have a military theme and did not realize that the Nazi symbols would be considered offensive.

Staff at one of the stores tried to stop an Associated Press photographer from taking pictures of the shop and tied up the lower part of the banners to hide the Nazi symbols.

Israeli Consul-General Eli Avidar said the consulate has received dozens of complaints about the displays in the past two days, the South China Morning Post newspaper reported on its front-page Saturday.

"People were furious, hurt and shocked that such a thing could happen," Avidar was quoted as saying. "It is unbearable to think that anyone can design a marketing campaign that desecrates the deaths of millions of people."

Phone calls by the Asssociated Press to the Israeli Consulate General in Hong Kong went unanswered.

In April, soft drink giant Coca-Cola pulled a promotional robot figurine adorned with what appeared to be Nazi swastikas following criticism from a Jewish leader in Hong Kong.

And in July last year Hong Kong coffee chain Pacific Coffee was forced to apologise after its stores used a quote from Hitler for is chalkboard "Thought for the day" spot.

    -------------------

I don't believe it was entirely a mistake or a misunderstanding. While only some Easterners understand who Hitler really was and what he actually did, they don't really care. I know there is some sort of underground anime ring between Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan of Nazi-based fiction and comic books. *****s and Japs love them some Nazis.

"It is unbearable to think that anyone can design a marketing campaign that desecrates the deaths of millions of people."

Someone ought to send him a memo:

"China, ****, China! Mao TseTung ring any bells?"

Why does Hong Kong even require a Jewish leader? How many jews live there?

Jews lecturing about human decency, LOL. Take some ecstacy, rape a kidnapped Russian teenage girl and jerk off after you shoot a 3 year old Palestinian in the face. Israel is the moral anus of planet earth.

In Germany it's for a few years already very en vogue among young fashion idiots in the cities to run around with pullovers, T-shirts, etc. with a red star.

Never heard that somebody in the media or of the political-cultural establishment complained about a stilyzing of Communism and about a mockery and insult to the victims of it.

Everyday we are reminded about the "6 million" holocaust dead.
Yet noone cares about the millions more dead in Commie Gulags.

Exactly. The Holocaust numbers are nothing compared to the Russian and Chinese purges. And what were the United States founded on? The deaths of tens of millions of Native Americans.

It's ridiculous. The Holocaust is child's play compared to what we and the commies have done.

Post Hong Kong Nazi Porn Fails To Offend

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I found this rather amusing.

HONG KONG — Popular Hong Kong men’s magazine Akasi pulled out all the stops for its October issue this year, capitulating to a bizarre new fascination many Hong Kong residents have developed for Nazi Germany.

In what some local fashion magazines have dubbed the new “Nazi chic,” swastikas and German uniforms have been popping up all over Hong Kong lately, prompting Akasi to publish a multi-page spread of a sexy model seig-heiling her way to sexual freedom and romping in the grass with a plastic version of wartime general Heinz Guderian, Hitler’s army chief of staff.

And aside from a few scant mentions in independent online publications, nobody seems to care. According to Thingfish, who first wrote about the Nazi spread for NetNewsAsia.com, many Hong Kongers admire the Nazi ethic. “Their tanks were made by Mercedes and Porsche; their uniforms were original Hugo Boss,” said Thingfish. “Twenty years after the last British skinhead tired of the joke, it’s still not unusual to see a Hong Kong teen in an ‘Adolph Hitler European Tour t-shirt.’”

Which explains why visitors to Hong Kong can sing karaoke in a bar wallpapered with photos of Germans executing prisoners, buy a new dress in a fashion store with swastikas hanging from its ceiling or watch TV on a station that likens its commercial advertising to “the final solution.”

If that’s not enough, wake up to a morning coffee and a daily Hitler quote from a local coffee shop. So while Akasi readers enjoy the lead article in Akasi’s October issue, which details the life and work of General Guderian, they can also peruse multiple photos of the model posed in front of a large swastika, holding a Nazi action figure in front of her breasts and popping up all over a Nazi tank.

Whether Akasi was aiming to offend with the October issue is unclear, as representatives at the Calvin Group, which publishes Akasi, wouldn’t comment to XBiz. “It could be that the strip is simply too silly to horrify anyone,” said Thingfish. “Anyone who can pose a topless babe alongside a [Nazi replica] with a moustache must surely possess a sense of humor.”

I find the actual porn even more bizarre. It's for Chinese men obsessed with Japanese women. So basically they are getting it off over Japanese girls dressed in Nazi gear... who come from the same Japan that allied with Germany in WW2 and invaded China :p
