Question The Volsung Saga and the Huns

I am currently reading the Saga of the Volsungs translation by Jesse L. Byock. The Saga is considered the inspiration for Lord of the Rings and Wagner's Ring of the Nibellungs. There are references to the Huns and Hunland in the saga, and somewhere in the glossary or notes section it mentions that the Huns were considered just another Germanic tribe. How can this be? As far as I was aware when the Goths fought the Huns, the Goths considered them foreigners as they showed Mongoloid features.

Post Re: The Volsung Saga and the Huns

As they moved west the Huns fought and absorbed Germanic tribes. At that time the Ostrogoths inhabited much land to the north and east almost to Turkey. They actually got this land from Celts recently. It is interesting that the Volsung Saga mentions the Huns as it dates the Volsung Saga precisely.
