Post Romanians no longer shipping AK's to the US?

I know that this rumour goes around from time to time, but apparently it is true this time. The Romanian manufacturer of (semi-auto) AK47 type rifles is no longer shipping to the US (via Century International Arms) the "SAR" series rifles. Any reason for this? I figure their might possibly be some Romanians who frequent this board and might be able to shed some light on this subject from a Romanian perspective.

Good thing indeed. Luckily I have 2 of them

I know that Century International Arms was the only distributer of Romanian AK's in the U.S. and can only hope that someone else will pick up the contract. Otherwise, Romanian AKs (which were the most inexpensive ones on the market) will skyrocket in price, particularly the last shipment of them which had laminated wood furniture on them (a rarity on the Romanian SAR series.

    two things i heard.

one is their fighting about the price.

and two is the assult weapons ban. they want to see what happens.

jus think, we might actually have bayo lugs, threaded muzzles and ''real folding wire stocks''

    but this is jus hear-say.
