Man Kills Five, Himself at Miss. Factory

By MATT VOLZ, Associated Press Writer

MERIDIAN, Miss. - A factory worker known as a racist "hothead" who talked about killing people opened fire with a shotgun at a Lockheed Martin plant Tuesday, leaving five fellow employees dead before committing suicide.

Dozens of employees at the aircraft parts plant frantically ran for cover screaming "Get out! Get out!" after Doug Williams, dressed in a black T-shirt and camouflage pants, started firing. The rampage occurred after Williams attended a meeting on workplace ethics.

Nine people were injured, including one critically, in the nation's deadliest workplace shooting in 2 1/2 years.

"At first I thought it was something falling on the ground. Then I walked to the aisle and saw him aiming his gun. I took off. Everybody took off," said Booker Steverson, who was helping assemble airplane parts when he heard the first shot.

Exactly what set Williams off was not immediately clear, but co-workers said the 48-year-old assembler had had run-ins with management and several fellow employees.

"Mr. Williams was mad at the world. This man had an issue with everybody," said co-worker Hubert Threat. "It's not just about race. It was just the excuse he was looking for."

Williams was white, and four of his victims were black; the fifth was white.

Nevertheless, Sheriff Billy Sollie said it appeared Williams fired at random. "There was no indication it involved race or gender as far as his targets were concerned," Sollie said.

Several co-workers said they were not surprised when Williams was identified as the killer.

"When I first heard about it, he was the first thing that came to my mind," said Jim Payton, who is retired from the plant but had worked with Williams for about a year.

Steverson said Williams was known as a racist who did not like blacks. And Payton had said Williams had talked about wanting to kill people. "I'm capable of doing it," Payton quoted Williams as saying.

One of those killed was Lanette McCall, a black woman who had worked at the plant 15 years. Her husband, Bobby McCall, said she expected Williams to harm someone someday.

"She said he made a threat against black people," a distraught McCall said. He added: "Obviously, he was a sick guy. I wish somebody had given him some help before he done destroyed my life and my kids' life."

Russell Wright, who works at the plant but was not there Tuesday, described Williams as "a hothead."

The sheriff said he had no information on whether the gunman had been in trouble with his bosses. Williams and other employees were attending an annual ethics meeting that the company requires of all its workers. Most of the victims had attended the meeting, authorities said.

"We are not sure if those killed were friend or foe," the sheriff said.

Austin Clark, who called in sick Tuesday, said Williams made accusations when he was angry. "He's had problems with white people, too," said Clark, who is white. "I have no idea what set him off."

Authorities said Williams was carrying a .223-caliber semiautomatic rifle when he entered the plant, but he apparently only used the 12-gauge shotgun. He also had three other guns in his truck.

Law officers made vehicles go through checkpoints outside the plant at midday as about two dozen people waited to learn the fate of their loved ones.

Some of the wounded were hospitalized in critical condition.

The shooting stunned residents of Meridian, a city of 40,000 near the Alabama line whose economy is largely dependent on the military. It is home to the Lockheed plant, a naval air station and an Air National Guard training center.

"We know one another, almost everyone knows someone who works in the building, or has a relative who works in the building," said Craig Hitt, president of the Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors.

The Rev. Kathy Spells pleaded for racial unity the city mourns its losses. "It's time to get together and pray and get this racist thing over with," Spells said.

The Meridian plant employs about 150 people and builds parts for C-130J Hercules transport planes and vertical stabilizers for F-22 Raptor fighter jets.

Dain Hancock, president of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, called the shootings "a horrible tragedy, a senseless crime."

"There are no words that can express the amount sorrow that has been felt by all of those who have been touched," Hancock said.

Lockheed Martin is the biggest defense contractor in the United States. The corporation had sales of $24 billion in 2001. It employs about 125,000 people.

Gov. Ronnie Musgrove said: "Mississippi's family grieves today for this senseless tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those lost."

It was the nation's deadliest workplace shooting since a software tester in Wakefield, Mass., killed seven people the day after Christmas in 2000.

The dead were identified as Lanette McCall, 47, of Cuba, Ala; Micky Fitzgerald, 45, of Little Rock, Miss.; Sam Cockrell, 46, of Meridian, Miss.; Thomas Willis, 57, of Lisman, Ala.; and Charlie Miller, 58, of Meridian, Miss.

"Racist" Opens Fire After "Diversity" Workshop
    At Least Six Dead

Lauderdale, Mississippi -- An individual described as a "racist" and wearing camoflauge clothing opened fire after a "diversity" workshop at the Lockheed Martin factory in Lauderdale, Mississippi, killing five, including four blacks, and injuring eight others before killing himself.
Details of the incident remained sketchy, as was any evidence that the gunman had been more "racist" than others before the assault.

The workshop was discussed in reports alternately as "diversity" workshop and an "ethics" workshop. The gunman said to have attended in the morning, grown angry, left the plant and returned in camoflauge with a rifle. Some major news reports ommitted the detail of the workshop entirely, but it was reported on MSNBC and other major sources.

"white man" is a politically incorrect term.

White Gentleman is a more suitable word.

To give the other side of history, the revisionist side--to give voice to the voiceless millions of dead victims of Jewish Communism--is regarded as "hateful" by the vain Zionists who demand for themselves the right to vomit forth a daily barrage of sewage upon the sacred memory of our grandparents and ancestors. To defend against the dishonoring of our heritage and our ancestors, is surely not hate; it is the right of self-defense against psychological warfare.

I wouldn't say he was gentle, but I get your point.

I wouldn't describe an unstable nut who arbitrarily shot several innocent people as a 'gentleman.'
What do you think an event like this does for the image of racialism?

I wish the media would explain why it was necessary to point out the he was wearing camoflauge????? (Other than pure spin)
Also, were not some of the victims white?

I think it is actions like that that are detrimental to ideals of racialism and white nationalism. I mean, havent we all dreamed about doing something like this? I know that I have. However, I think that it is the ability to NOT actually follow through with something like this that seperates us from "them."

We must have a little bit of sympathy for him though, it's understandable why he snapped -

Tragedy exposes "diversity" packaged as "ethics"
    Richard Barrett

When I first heard over the radio that Doug Williams had stormed out of a "business-ethics" class at Lockheed-Martin and, then, returned wielding a shotgun, gunning down others and, then, himself, the singular word "class" immediately caught my attention and, secondarily, the word "ethics." Almost as a knee-jerk reaction, I surmised that the man had been subjected to some sort of "diversity" "brainwashing," which had driven him over the edge. But, as a journalist, as well as a lawyer, I could not jump to conclusions, without verifying the facts. So, I turned back around, grabbed a telephone and began to make inquiries. "What was the subject of the 'ethics' class?" I wanted to know.

I was told that company officials were not talking and I found it impossible to reach anyone who had any definitive information. I had heard nasty rumors about seminars being conducted that a Negro had discovered the North Pole and the New World and had invented the light bulb. But I had dismissed them as just the nonsense emanating from the local Adhiambo black-power school. I recalled how I had gotten a job at the American Can Company factory in Jackson, Mississippi, when I first returned from the military. I had attended "classes," but they were simply training sessions on how to do my job, which, in my case, was stacking milk cartons as they came off of a conveyer-belt. The training was necessary in order to decipher the cadence and routine to keep pace with the machine. But, that seemed about all a factory-trainee needed, back then, before there was any racial integration.

Further news reports came in from Meridian, Mississippi, mentioning almost as a footnote the "class," which by then was being called a "business-ethics" or "corporate-ethics" class. In the wake of the Martha-Stewart, insider-trading stock-scandal, perhaps the class was to counsel employees on how to legally dispose of their stock. I posed that question to several associates, all of whom shook their heads. I didn't think so, either. Williams, a factory-hand, would hardly have accumulated a nest-egg which could have placed him in the tax-bracket with Stewart nor probably would anyone else working the assembly-line at the plant. One contributing writer suggested that I not publish any precipitous descriptions of the class-content and I agreed, but feverishly kept ferreting out facts and racking my brain. If Williams had been just some psycho, who blew his top regardless of the content of the class, I would not want to suggest that he had been a "victim," of course. But, increasingly, my sense was that he must have been.

I thought that the "best-case" scenario, as far as the company was concerned, would be that the "class" was simply instruction about right and wrong. After all, that is what "ethics" really means. Perhaps, since the plant was integrated, it was teaching such things as "don't steal the tools belonging to someone else" or "do not play your rap-music boom-box so loud as to annoy someone else." Things that typically would crop up where Negroes and Americans were forced together. But, I repaired to the Lockheed-Martin website and there it all was, in black and white, no pun intended. The full story about what sort of "ethics" was being rammed down the throat of a reluctant and rebellious Williams. And so many others chafing under the bit. On the Ethics page was a picture of a Negress standing over a rather cowed white man, supposedly teaching him how to work a computer, subtitled, Setting the Standard.

    "Barriers" to be "eliminated"

The picture, worth "a thousand words," conveyed that the minority was on the higher plane and that the American had to accept some sort of subservient position. I was not reading into it. The text went on to define the objective of "ethics" as to "support and assist minority candidates" so as to "reflect national diversity." Since Negroes make up about ten-percent of the population, did that mean that any percentage over ten in Meridian had to be let go? Apparently not. Any "barriers" to "diversity" had to be "eliminated," according to the "ethics" program set out on the webpage. Doing so was characterized as "imperative" which the company had to "leverage." Moreso, employees were admonished to snitch on anyone who was not supporting "diversity" in the workplace, as well as on any supplier who was not in line with the "diversity" "ethics" of the company. Shades of Stalinist Russia.

The entire mission of Lockheed-Martin, according to the "ethics" statement, and, presumably the class which Williams took his life and went on a rampage over in protest, was to force a "larger, integrated whole," despite the morals, wishes, work-ethic, patriotism, family-values or religion of the employee. There was no opting out for any "conscientious objector" as there would be for those objecting to the military draft or, even, the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Page after page, as if once were not enough, listed the words, Lockheed-Martin is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer, meaning that not only were doors "open to all," but that a conscious effort was made to place "African" "Americans" ahead of non-hypenated Americans. More pages depicted Negroes prominently, with whites either in the background or in some subservient positions. The compulsory "ethics" classes were clearly designed not only to instruct the employee on company "policy," but to force him to accept the policy, emasculating his very manhood, as well as his free-will. Or else, as in the case of Williams, to rebel at great and terrible cost.

In most true and honest ethics classes, conscience plays a major role. One is taught that there are standards of right and wrong, that people are more important than machines and that flesh and blood means more than stock-certificates. All this because Martin Luther instigated the Protestant Reformation on the single notion that a man should have liberty of conscience, to be able to express his views freely and openly, which has become part of America's birthright, as well as the Rights of Englishmen, which formed the foundation of the American Revolution. The drive for liberty of conscience is said to have brought down the Berlin Wall and Iron Curtain and catapulted the Soviet Union into oblivion. Shirley Price summed up the hostile workplace environment by calling Williams the "victim" of the shootout and narrating how such a "kind and loving human being" had been "pushed to this point" of no return. How sad that it had come to this, but how fortunate that there is still hope for change.

To label unabashed "brainwashing" and indoctrination as "ethics" only adds insult to injury, by suggesting that one who opposes racial-integration and affirms an all-American America is not only a dissident but immoral and unethical. A salute to Price, who had the ethics to tell the truth and the backbone to take a stand. Real patriots, genuine Americans, are all victims of the injustice of integration, "diversity" and "inclusiveness" which is gutting our workplaces and bringing our country down. So, who will hold Lockhhed-Martin accountable for the tragedy and deception, which drove a desperate man to desperate deeds? Indeed, who will right the wrongs? Not the "regulators," who watched over Enron and Worldcom. Not the Supreme Court, which legalized homosexuality. Not the CEOs, who dictated the "ethics" of affirmative-action. Only, We, the People, who "shall know the truth, which shall set us free."
