0.2% French (from Normandy). That demonstrates how many obscure facts you can discover about your ancestry when you delve into genealogical research.

I heard there were wallonians on my mothers side. I hope It's true

However, the wallonian settlement in sweden took place in the 15th and 16th century, so I don't think I have much french blood in my veins

I'm a very recent member and I'm just starting to read the hoard of interesting posts on Skadi.
I'm a French citizen and I made up my screen-name after one of my forenames (Charles) and one of the possible spellings of "French" in Middle-English (Frenshe, Frensch, Frencisch, Frankys, etc.).

    Who is French in France?

90% of the North-African population is
90% of the Black African population is
90% of the [French Speaking] Jewish population is

    Is France really a country?

It might be, according to a small book in my possession stating: "French Passport"
And according to the France's efforts to rule a so called "European [French] community".

It reminds me that a few French citizens entered the Waffen-SS and served honestly during WW II. It is my understanding they had no reward for their merit (but to be slaugthered, after the war, by [just another] French Gen. [hero] Lecleck... [or approaching name]). Who is French on Sakdi?

Well, I hope I might get in touch with the X% left and make some acquintance and [why not?] valuable friends.

    Regards,

    MEHT

    Sure, it does.
What about if it is only a surname? My surname originates in Scotland from Norman settlers in the 12th century.

You mean a Jimmy Sommerville sounding-like name (sp)? I know there are some surnames which end in -ville in the UK. Frequent in Normandy (place names). In your case no, I don't think so. You're not "Norman" (as in Normandy) or "French", you're English and you identify yourself as English, right? Your culture, language, and blood, etc., are English. However, you do have a Nor(d)man ancestry. Actually, I was especially thinking of more recent emigrants who left Normandy for the new continent. Btw why that question? Are you persecuted in England. Do you need asile?
