    Post Discover your Norwegian roots

    http://www.aftenposten.no/english/lo...ticleID=513649

Good up-to-date article with loads of information and links to Norwegian genealogy in English. Americans with Norwegian ancestry should find this useful.

    Regards,

    Loki

These are the two Norwegian sites that I found most helpful. They are presented in Norwegian and English.

I'm an American mongrel: German, Irish & Norwegian mix. However, if I had the opportunity to choose my ancestry, I wouldn't change a thing.

I guess that makes me a mongrel too, having Dutch, German and Danish ancestry.

Btw, I couldn't think of a better combination in features, Sigrun. You are top class. No surprise you wouldn't change what you are.

Awww... so sweet to me. Do you want to borrow money or something?

It was fascinating to trace the migration of my ancestors from their beginnings in these adorable little Bavarian & Franconian towns, to Denmark, and then up to Norway. The personal letters, diaries and memoirs I've been privledged to read have meant more to me than you know. My adventure into my family tree gave me a better perspective on family, history, and roots.

You sound like a good friend of mine that used to speak of this 'American mongrel' business. I used to (and still do) think this rather absurd...anyone who is mostly or entirely of NW European genetic heritage is NOT much of a 'mongrel' IMO. All of the ethnicities associated with this area are SO SIMILAR (and so interbred) that any combination of breeding among them merely results in offspring who can easily be considered as 'normal' members of any and all ethnicities of said area. It really is sad that so many of NW Euro. heritage have so easily adopted this "I'm a mongrel" crap.

I'll tell ya', though, Sigrun; I'm happy you wouldn't change a thing about yourself if given the chance...you look TOO damned GOOD to change one iota of your being!
