When I posted his skull for classification, it was guessed (via reputation) that he was Danubian (Mediterranoid) or Asiatic (which can be ruled out so far), not white so to speak.

The paintings suggest, in addition, a significant Faelid/UP element.

I'd say north atlantid, faelid intermediate. The Faelid element seems obvious in the black and white paintings, especially the younger painting of him, In that one i'd say he looks Faelid with classic nordic admixture.

I'm guessing the younger black and white picture is heavily stylized to make him more the dashing, young German man. I could be wrong, but it seems like a lot of famous personages get this treatment in the Romantic Era. The people look completely different from one depiction to the next, because many of the drawings have been made to make the person look more attractive. Of course, this may also be attributed to a faster aging process. So who knows.

Hmm... but, the Dinaric skull matches almost everything else, except the flattened occupit.

Goethe's face seems also to be a bit 'shorter' than the
Dinaric skull. I guess the shape of the skull and it's smoothness
could be something like Dinaric+Alpine.

If he was part faelid, I'd expect him to be at least a bit rugged,
with brow-ridges at least.

On the paintings, he does look a bit Borreby/UP/Faelid and like an Armenoid ( in some paintings )
( as his eyes aren't as deep-set as what is common with Dinarics ).

But, the skull seems to be a smoothed-out Dinaric skull with the brain-case
'tapered' a bit to the rear.

As Frédéric Soret observed, Goethe's irises were brown with broad blue edges (central heterochromia). This is why Stieler (1828) and Schwerdgeburth (1832) depicted him with bluish eyes.
