    Post Maslow's Pyramid

We've all seen it before, I'm sure, but I want some other opinions on it.

Most people would agree that this is how we live. We secure our most basic, primitive needs first and then move on to the next level. It seems to me that few ever pass the Ego stage. It also appears to me that the few do move beyond Ego didn't start their journies from the bottom, but started from the top.

    Any ideas?

hmm... I think the fact of many not passing past the ego needs is quite true...in my opinion that is. Dunno I really dont see though how some may start from the top... I cant think of anyone really being spiritual in ANY way... I guess I just see it as hypocretic, but yah so far i guess i agree with you there...

i think its fairly accurate in that people are rarely satisfied.
hes an interesting guy from what ive read-i also found his theories on women and dominance interesting: to paraphrase :

a woman always needs a more dominant man than herself

women can be divided into 3 groups of dominance, the lowest dominance group who dont really like men at all and are wary of sex

the medium dominance group who like men and sex but want a man who will treat them well and be good to them

the highest dominance group who love men and sex and need the most dominant man possible

point being-we women need a strong dominant man and i'd have to agree with that x_p

Perhaps we need to define better the various types of needs and what is meant by each level.

I agree, Edric. I have no time to do it now (work, work, work), but I'll try when I get home.

Interesting theory about women's need for dominance, too. We must explore that more.

    well,quick story.
imagine the homeless person who only wants a safe, place to live.nothing fancy-just shelter.
maslow seems to say that as soon as he gets that he'll start to want a lovely cottage with a nice garden for instance and so on upwards.

i have a good book that explains it properly,i'll try to find it later

I would be interested in hearing where others on this board think they are on this pyramid.
