Iranian religion is actually a mixture of motifs with a northern origin, like the Cinvat Bridge and haoma, with an indigenous West Asian tradition.

Dualism, the spiritual essence of Magian Zoroastrianism, which developed later from the Original religion of Zardushtr, is also magian, in that it is altogether middle eastern in its character.

Actually there are strongly dualistic elements in northern traditions, in both Slavic and Altaic traditions and the Altaics, at least, were located too far from West Asia to have been under a strong Magian influence.

    Post Re: Zorostrianism

The Zoroastrian religion that so many forget was built upon old religous structures which came all around of Mesopotamian belief structures.

These structures being assyrian, babylonian, and old persian deities.

In the wake of the birth of the Zoroastrian religion you have to remember at that time Persia took over most of the known world at the time.

Also the old persian religion has been compared with the old vedic traditions of India . The old persian tradition being the structure that Zoroastrian emerged out of and took over.

It is a very interesting religion I will give it that much.

In Slavic tradition, theres a contrast between a white god (Byelobog) and a black god (Chernobog) similar to that between Ahura Mazda and Ahriman in Zoroastrian religion. Though this has been explained as an external influence on Slavic tradition, a strong dualism is found further to the east in the Altai where the dualism is between Tengri and Erlik Khan, which suggests that there was a northern origin for highly developed dualism. The origins of Zoroastrian and later dualism was probably in the stronger seasons of cold latitues, rather than in the warm, less seasonal Mediterranean where the motif wasnt well developed until the arrival of Zoroastrianism.
