Post Greetings! I have returned after a long hiatus!

    Hello, My Fellow Skadi Members!

Although I became a member a while ago, I had to take some time away from the forum due to a stressful Senior year at my university! Many of you have probably forgotten me, or you did not know me at all, so I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Renee, and I am a graduate student who currently resides in Rheinland Pfalz, Germany. Usually, I live in Rhode Island, in New England.

In terms of my future preparation, I just finished my Bachelor Degree in Political Science in May 2004. Right now, I am participating in a graduate fellowship (Fulbright) to teach English in a German Gymnasium (High School). After having completed the fellowship, I intend to continue my studies in Graduate School, and I will study History (Ph.D.) and German (M.A.). I have also considered getting a law degree, but we will see!

During my free time, I have quite a few interests. I love skiing, hiking, and running. I also enjoy reading, listening to music, and watching films. I enjoy travelling, being with friends, and having in-depth discussions (I love to talk, as you can probably tell from my posts, ha!). I love public speaking and acting. I enjoy peer tutoring and teaching, as well. I enjoy political theory, religion, history, culture, philosophy, etc. I loved every subject, literally, in school, EXCEPT Math (BLAH!).

As I have mentioned in a couple of posts, my family originates from the British Isles: namely, they come from England, Ireland, and Scotland. They emigrated to Canada and the United States. I also have family in Australia. Although I am American, I have considered emigrating to Canada or Australia for some time. So, any tips would be great!

In terms of my political affiliation, I would have to say "Bismarckian Conservative," not just because various political tests have indicated that it fits my ideals, but also because I admire Bismarck's politics and strategies. Any man who manages to consolidate and expand the German Empire, while improving her domestic politics must be given the accolade he deserves! Of course, I also have a great fascination for National Socialism and the Third Reich; however, I would not classify myself as a National Socialist.

Religiously, I have no affiliation. Not only do I not believe in religion, but I also am not convinced that there is no god or that there is no "correct" religion. I am completely open and neutral on the topic. However, I love religion, and I do not mind talking about it.

So, anyway, I think that's enough for now!!! Geez, I think I gave a bit more than an introduction! At least you know a bit about me, and please say hello if you have the time, because I love talking to new people!

I look forward to writing and discussing with you all.

    Kind Regards,

    Renee

Post AW: Greetings! I have returned after a long hiatus!

    Welcome.
"slavic" languages are absolutely arteficial (Read "slawenlegende"). The "glagolica", invented by a bunch of monks, is nothing but an ancient esperanto, creating new words, definitions and alphabet out of regional slangs.

The craddle of European Civilization comes from the North. All blond people originate from the north. So if you see a blond-blue eyed Slovene, Russian, Czech, Polak ect., you can be 100% sure that his ancient ancestors originated from "Germanics" (Germanic = Nordic).
"slovenja" was the settelment of the Langobards = Germanics/Teutons. "Poland" of the Goths and East-Vandals ect. ect. What do "slavs" tell us about their origin?
Some silly story that they originate from some swamps in the east and popped out of no where into history.

So you see my dear "Gorostan" [=Triglav], you are in reality a "Germanic" indoctrinated with panslav propaganda and historic fantasy stories. ~Dr. Brandt, former TNP and Skadi member

Actually Bismarck created the smallest German state possible.
And all my youth passed by sad-hearted,
    the joy of Spring was never mine;
Autumn blows through me dread of parting,
and my heart dreams and longs to die.

Athough that is true, it had been the largest German state and the only unified German state to date. Granted, he didn't create a Grossdeutschland that included Austria; however, the nation might have fallen apart if he did at that time. I think the Kleindeutschland idea was great: the Anschluss worked better later, and it happened to occur under Hitler. A strong, powerful Prussia and Austria in the same nation-state in the mid- to late-1800s would not have been a good idea, though: there was a great rivalry between the German states of Prussia and Austria...it might have broken the Empire apart. I still think he is a great statesman, in any case. You have to agree that Realpolitik is a good concept, one which he created.

Well, it clearly shows that you are American.
Bismarck's problem was his anti-Catholic and anti-socialist bias (very American indeed if you look at the Know Nothing Party) which in the long run destroyed his creation and effectively split the country in two. Gesamtdeutschland was an option but Bismarck wanted to keep it Protestant, thus alienating a majority of Germans.

Of course, I am not stating that his policies were always correct. I merely stated that this man cleverly consolidated over thirty-nine sovereign states into one nation-state. His foreign policy was very clever, even if his domestic policy wasn't always the best. Nonetheless, he did facilitate the creation of the Second Empire, and I think it was definitely better than the status-quo. Of course, his bias against Austria did have something to do with his anti-Catholic bias; however, I would argue that even with a Grossdeutschland, the Empire might have collapsed. The problem is that Bismarck had to perform a great balancing act, which he failed to perform adequately in the end. However, to completely dismiss his ideas and contributions would be a mistake. Do you not agree?

As a side note, how does the previous post indicate that I am American?

The naive thinking in categories of Empire and "Might is Right" and the even more naive personalization of history.
