Both fought in North Africa and Italy with the Polish Second Corps.
My Paternal Grandfather was a Sergeant with the "Kresowa" division. He was severely wounded twice at Monte Cassino. he is still very much alive today, and we talk about the war / his experiances often.
My Maternal Grandfather reached the rank of Major. He was more Intelligence rather then infantry. He trained with the Polish paras and was being trained to become a "Cicho Ciemny" (Quiet and Dark) - for those that dont know, these were Polish operatives that were dropped behind enemy lines for various missions. A week before his scheduled jump, he broke his ribs in training and was pulled, much to his dismay, from the mission........The 5 that jumped were all killed within an hour of them landing........He died over 15 years ago from cancer and is greatly missed.
Both extremely brave men.
Let them hate as long as they fear.
My grandfather fought for the Polish Navy during WW2. A while after the Germans invaded Poland, My Grandfather was transfered to England. The English then let the Polish use their ships to fight against the German U boats.
My grandfather on my father's side wound up in the army just in time to take part in occupying Japan, but he later fought in Korea.
My grandfather on my mother's side fought in Korea, Marines, but missed WW2.
My great uncle on my father's side, fought in the thick of fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and he came back with a great deal of stuff (Lugers, Walther P-38s, daggers, knives, swords, gold, and other stuff he acquired from various sources) (It pretty much goes without saying that the weaponry he took from dead enemy soldiers, and the other stuff he "appropriated" from various sources)
A large number of my other great uncles, I do believe were also in WW2, but I am not sure.

My late half-brother served in the U.S. army, I believe in the 69th division of the infantry in World II. Some of my maternal uncles in Norway may have served in the underground, though all those who participated were so secretive about it that I have never been able to learn whether or not any of them were involved.
My paternal grandfather was taken prisoner near Kharkov. Needless to say, he never returned...
His younger brother was in the Liebstandarte Adolf Hitler. He was lucky enough to be captured by the english at Normandy.
(I should also note that my great grandfather died in the First World War at verdun)
My maternal grandfather was in the Royal Airforce. He made it trough the war without a scratch.

In my family tree there were two brothers who were my great cousins on my mothers fathers side who flew in the French Air Force. One of them was shot in the neck and wore an ascott in all of his pictures to hide the hole. My moms father and here uncle on her moms side were in World War II; U.S Army and Navy. They both lived to older ages.![]()
My grandfather fought for the Canadians at Normandy.![]()
