Question Which of Homer's Works Do You Prefer?

Just a general question which of Homer's works do you prefer? The Iliad or The Odyssey? honestly I am rather fond of both the classics, though if I had to choose just one I would say the Odyssey.

For those who are not familiar with these two classic's I highly recommend you read them.

I've read them both, and it's hard to pick just one as my favourite. However in case of life or death, i would probably pick The Odyssey.

Btw, I'm currently re-reading Virgil's Aeneid, and I think it is my favourite amongst classic epic poems.

I am not sure. I prefer both works, for different times. I like the Iliad for the action, epic warfare and the way the characters develop. I like the Odyssey for the way the story flows and how you see the characters interact with different enviorments and people as they gain experience. Both very good works.
Just close your eyes...can you remember
The generations not so long ago
I feel the shameless urge that we must restore
Our former king to his rightful throne
And with me lords and maidens
We wait for the chosen son's return

    I come alive
    It's a time for celebration
    Our will to restore
Make our past become the futre once more

Still he lives! 2000 years have passed
And still we're yearning for his return
    We fulfill a wishful prohecy
    And so the chanting begins
Hail Caesar...Hail Caesar...we render unto you
    What is still yours

I've only read The Odyssey. It was a really good book. One of my favorites is MacBeth, but that's by a different author.

.....yeah Spakespeare's Macbeth is a great piece, I have this really old crappy copy of it on my bookshelf that I picked up somewhere, I guess it is at least 30 years old but a good read nevertheless.

........yes the themes of the two are essentially different but the storylines of each are just as good as the other, Homer was certainly onto something good when he wrote these two epics.

The Iliad as The Odyssey bores me.

I prefer the Iliad by far; an awesome epic about pride, love, war, and Fate.

I tend to enjoy reading The Odyssey more, and it strikes me as more accessible to a modern reader, perhaps because it focuses more on the deeds of one particular hero throughout the entire story. But I wouldn't argue The Odyssey is somehow objectively a better book than The Iliad - they are collectively the foundations of Western literature.
