    Hello Everyone!

I decided on my username because it is my favorite opera of all time, an adaptation of the Wolfram von Eschelbach poem of the same name written by the great German composer Richard Wagner about the knight Percival of Arthurian legend. I've been interested in my Germanic heritage since my early youth. I had the drive to learn German after hearing it spoken by a relative and started to teach myself the language when I was still in elementary school, long before I truly understood what it meant to be German. I was always fascinated by history, which no doubt stemmed from all the stories told by my grandparents and great-grandparents growing up. As I grew older, I delved deeper into the combined history of Europe dating back to the antiquity period and as I learned more about the history of the continent, I recognized I was learning more about my ancestors and felt I had a greater understanding of myself as well. History is almost mathematical to me - it determines the course for how we came to where we are in the present. And that is how I determined what it is to be German; being cognizant that I carry the combined greatness of all my forebears with me wherever I may be.

As I studied history and anthropology more in university, I began to recognize that the views purported by my professors were by-and-large fabrications and tales told to dissuade European (especially Germanic) students from acknowledging the greatness of their ancestors, demonizing them to a large extent. Dissatisfied with the blatant self-hating narrative I was being spoon-fed, I took it upon myself to learn more about my ancestral and cultural history on my own accord, which brings me here today.

Spiritually, I am a practitioner of Germanic heathenry, for I believe that it has undeniable roots in the foundation of the culture and history of the Germanic folk. My connection with heathenry revolves around the assertion that followers of the religion do not display subservience to any being, but rather inspires its adherents; to live honorably, emphasizes strength of self and character, fitness of body and mind, connection and stewardship of the land, and honoring one's kin and ancestors. My spirituality serves as constant reminder to stay the course, to keep fighting for my goals even when my life seems to be at its most tumultuous, and to never falter to adversity.

Mostly I hope to use my time here to learn more about Germanic culture and history. I am also very philosophically inclined, and am eager to partake in discussions of that nature.

    Thanks!

Good choice. It's my old username.

That’s great! If the spirit of the Germanic people had a voice, I believe it would be that of Wagner’s operas.

Thank you for the warm welcome brother! It's amazing knowing that I have other Heathens to talk theology with now - I don't come across many in my day to day life. Love your signature by the way! Amon Amarth is among my favorite metal bands!
