I'm not a Catholic (or Christian), so posted without my own personal editorial comment for those who are on this forum.
My maternal side are Catholics, and I rather doubt this would please them.

I'm not a Catholic but this man is flat out an anti-pope.
Oh by the way there was a prophecy in the middle ages of the list of popes.
The LAST pope was the final pope and the next was supposed to be the anti-pope or black pope.
After that he said "the end."

Francis must be the anti-christ because he is destroying what remains of the Catholic Church. In another decade it will be just like the Episcopalians. The next big announcement will be female priests.
I have relatives who are Catholic and some (the most devout) are going to reject this. Francis is not their Pope.

I remember that thread Elessar made a while back about some cardinal in the US, and Bernhard remarked how interesting it was to hear a cardinal talk in terms of “good and evil” again.
The fact this is a novelty in the Catholic Church today and the Pope does stuff like this tells you basically everything.
If only you knew how bad things really are
Not surprising, considering that this pope has moved closer toward liberation theology after what seems to be have been his initial stance during the 70's.

The media tries to make him seem like an even more extreme advocate of their agenda than he really is but he gives them fodder for it. He pushes this stuff right up until the edge. There might be some reason this isn't what he technically said but he meant to reassure homosexuals and their advocates. No pope has ever done so so frequently and so brazenly before.
