    Hail Folk!

    Hail Folk!,

I am new here but not new to being a solid member of our Folk and Honoring the Gods.

I live off-grid in the mountains (yes, I do have long distance WiFi for free).
My purpose here is to learn, teach, and make some friends. Also I am a serious advocate for our Folk to drop out of
Society and live off-grid in order to save our Folk's customs, ways, and from extinction.
If anyone is serious about living off-grid and wants to learn more just hit me up; I have 2 decades of living like this.

    Welcome to Skadi!

How much off the grid are you living? Are you self-sufficient in supply of water, vegetables, meat, electricity and heat?

Welcome to Skadi, Hidden Hearg! Yes, it would be interesting to share your experiences with off-grid living. We have a few others here who take an interest in the topics of self-reliance and off-grid and a forum specifically about this topic.

    100% off-grid.
We get WiFi from 21mi (35km) away with our new antenna, for free!
We have solar electricity and water heating. All food is either grown, raised and/or bartered.
Water is from stream and rain collection.

How many square feet of solar panels do you need to power your home? Do you have any batteries to store electricity for use during night time? And by 'water heating', do you mean "sun catchers" (enclosed tubes with liquid or gas which absorb sunlight and transport the heat indoors)?

How do you manage human waste?
The solar systems we use on the houses are the most simple and vary from wattage, not all dwellings are the same.
For my place I only use 2 200 watt solar panels (400watts), with charge controller, 2 12v gel batteries, and an inverter when I want to use.
All my lighting is DC LED. None of us have refrigeration or electric heating, we all know how to live without those things.

As for water heating, that is an interesting story. I was researching in the beginning what to do and make for solar heating.
There is a ton of ideas and plans to make this or that, until I fell upon a nice solar heating unit made by Siesol (a Mexican company). So I done the numbers for making something vs driving to Mexico and buying 3 units, I opted for the Mexican made Solar heater. So I picked them up for $4,500 pesos when the dollar was at 15 pesos, equivalent to $300 each. I picked them up in Tijuana. The great part was that these units are all stainless steel. The company threw in a box of replacement tubes for free and wrote me a receipt that I bought all the units for a grand total of $498 dollars, that way they were duty free!

The human waste is all taken care by composting.

The stream that runs through the corner of the property provides ample enough water.
There is a ram pump system that pumps into a tank.

What about the girls in your area ?

I mean , there is not much to gain from two batteries (in parallel?) ,
even WiFi should suck out your batteries early .

How many charge/discharge cycles do your batteries provide ,
or do you replace them every year ?
Mk 10:18 What do you call me a good master, no-one is good .

I just acquired 4 lithium ion marine batteries that have up to 5000 cycles,
My marine gel has a life of 300, a huge difference.

Our WiFi system started off will 2 lithium ion batteries, it all new so giving you data on that is too soon.

Girls huh, well there are none in our area, we are out in the middle of the mountains in the woods.
One of our guys has a new girlfriend he met when he went to a farmer's market, she is fixing to join us.
The hard part for those single is meeting an Asatruar/Odinist, it is the rule for residing here and being part of the Stam.
