We have a lockdown here justified with the alleged danger from Corona Virus. That means that I'm not/less economic active right now.

I think the real ripple effect we may be feeling substantially later though.

Who are building those 20,000 sqft. mansions in Idaho? I feel sorry for Idahoans as you'll get more white refugees within the US. It was only time that a disease will occur from China or down South of US border. People like us are rethinking new places to live to escape the metropolitan squalor and communicable diseases. Open borders have radically changed our culture.

My state (Arizona) is going on "Stay at Home" starting tomorrow at 5:00 PM. The schools have been out for two weeks (and spring break the week before that) and the rest of the school year has been cancelled. I have two sons at home, 16 & 6, I'm working from home & me and the wife are starting to go crazy. The only thing to look forward to is going to Walmart or Target and not finding about a 1/3 of what is on the shopping list. At least gas is in plentiful supply.

    Rules that contradict

We have been home since early March so I know the feeling to keep the kids entertained. The problem is there is little randomness of daily events. Our parks even have construction plastic around kiddie slides and bars. There is no proof that you can even contract the virus outside unless some person coughs on you or family. People who are sick should remain home and wear masks if they need to go out for crucial reasons. Years ago, infected people stayed home with posted sign and tape on the door warning of contagious disease; you just don't quarantine healthy individuals. People are also crowding into supermarkets and lines that don't make sense. It's obvious to close down schools, churches, theaters and indoor malls, but patio restaurants should be opened if there is 5-6 feet space.

Winterland, there is indeed proof that the virus survives on inorganic surfaces for anywhere between several hours to several days. https://www.nih.gov/news-events/news...hours-surfaces

Additionally, the issue in only quarantining those already showing symptoms is that the virus appears to have an incubation period of anywhere from 1–16 days. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32150748/

The last couple of days I've experience extreme fatigue and mild chest congestion with a mild fever - 99 to 99.4 fahrenheit. (98.6 is normal.) I've coughed up mucus that is much thicker then normal but there is not much of it. I feel fine in the mornings the symptoms come on in the late afternoon & evening. I talked to the doctor over the phone, he doesn't want me to come in to his office. I have the symptoms for covid-19 but he isn't going to test me since it is mild & testing is a hassle. My wife moved out of the master bedroom so I'm by myself getting lots of rest and drinking lots of fluids. My wife and boys are not leaving the house, everything will be by delivery for the next couple of weeks. Since I won't be tested (unless it gets worst) I will not show up among the official statistics since it won't be confirmed. Right now I'm feeling pretty good, curled up in bed with my laptop & the tv remote.

I haven't had any symptoms since Friday. The doctor says if it was covid-19 then I'm likely over it but he still wants me to self isolate from the rest of the family till Thursday. Thankfully no one else in the household is showing any symptoms.

Personally didn't affect us that much. Although schools, restaurants, parks & such closed and there are some recommendations for social distancing, there's no mandatory stay at home/shelter-in-place order where I live. Some cities have curfews during the night tho & folks who come from the red zones have to quarantine themselves. Luckily hubby & I have our own house & property so we can still go out on strolls on our own property & not be bothered either way. We also grow our own fruits & veggies and have a few farm animals so the supermarket panic & craze didn't really affect us either. We've stacked up and filled our pantry for emergencies just in case but so far we didn't really need to touch our emergency stack. Hubby is still working as he's self-employed & does most of the stuff from home. We did lose some money and had to sell when the stocks went down tho and that got us thinking to invest in something more timeless in the future, like gold & precious metals. Most probly some of the social restrictions are going to be gradually lifted come May. If ya ask me, this was all some huge overreaction. I'm with the prez on this.

The coronavirus has affected very few people. What has affected millions is the overreaction by governments generated by the media hype. The UK, for example, looked at to have a sensible approach when attempting to achieve herd immunity, but it was all shattered once the politicians got overwhelmed and spooked by the media reports from Italy and other countries.

I am personally taking notes among acquaintances, friends, etc because this is a good watershed: people who blame the virus rather than the media are probably morons and I don't want anything to do with them in my personal life.

If people were smart, there would be journalist heads rolling for this "pandemic".

Just finished university. Difficult to find a job now, and since I wasn't employed, I don't qualify for compensation for being let off. Since my studies are now over, I also don't qualify for study loans to live off of till universities start up again. Basically feeling like a gypsy over here. Might resort to stealing bicycles.
