How Has the Coronavirus Pandemic Affected You Personally?

We already have some Coronavirus threads but in this thread we should look at it through a personal perspective. Post in this thread how has the Coronavirus pandemic, or any of the measures associated with - such as social isolation, curfews, business closures, etc. - affected you and your family personally, both the pros and cons.

Are you self isolating at home or do you go out as usual? What about your family? Are you spending more time together at home, or have the isolation and quarantines separated you? If you stay at home, how do you go about your exercising/sport routine? How often do you go outside? What about socializing with friends?

If you had a job, did you get to keep it? Have you transitioned to working from home, part time etc., or has nothing changed?

Or how about the shopping? Are you doing the shopping yourself, have you entrusted someone else or resorted to delivery services? Are you more of a prepper or do you shop as usual? How do you go about traveling, e.g. your holidays and vacations? Any plans you had, cancellations? How have the border closures affected you, has anyone become stranded in another country? Are you still able to visit the hair stylist or barber? etc.

Post any other examples of how your life has changed and also any other fears you have and how you see this pandemic affecting the future.

    1. It hasn't really affected my wife and I so much, so far. We're mostly introverted anyhow, so far it just means less nights out to restaurants and some catching up with friends that won't happen for a while. I have noticed that there are far more children out and about in the streets in my neighbourhood, and it seems like families are spending more fun time together with their kids. It's nice to see, actually.
    2. We're isolating ourselves and taking social distancing precautions. I was getting ready to start going back to the gym regularly, which has been messed up by this. Instead I've been jogging almost daily, and walking my dog more.
    3. I kept my job. It's mostly remote anyhow. My work is critical to infrastructure, also, so I'm not particularly worried about losing it.
    4. We're just trying to get more shopping done in one go than we typically used to. Trying to buy a couple of weeks' supply in one trip vs a week's supply.

I'm concerned a lot of older people I know may die or never really recover, including relatives, friends and mentors. I'm also concerned that by the time this virus completes infecting this area, it may be 10-20% less White than before in a rapid amount of time. But so far, there has not been such a dramatic impact to my life. In fact, having to be home a bit more has actually allowed me to spend more time with my wife than before, which has been nice. I also enjoy seeing young White kids out and about the neighbourhood having fun fishing in ponds, riding bikes etc, all hours of the day, and playing with their parents. We shall see as time progresses.

Hmm.. it has and it hasn't... I'm fully stocked and prepped with supplies to last for easily 6months before this was even thing also have a productive garden albeit small ish. However it has affected my business/personal cashflow greatly, especially after literally 6 months of near constant rain hurting contracts and on top of that some very expensive vehicle issues eating away at reserves I had built up. Basically lots of work has dried up because A) people are scared/on lockdown B) also in the same boat and now getting very concerned with money (no one is chucking 20k down on a landscaping contract ATM)

Negatively. My husband's business is on hold and I am temporarily out of work as well. If you made your living in the travel/tourism/gastronomy/retail fields, it might be grim for a while. The fact that we have a small child to take care of makes it all the more worrisome. For now we still have savings but of course it worries us. Who knows how long this is going to last? Nobody can tell us exactly so we just have to grin and bear it...

I have lost a lot of clients and work for the foreseeable future. I had some money in stocks but that has dwindled due to the markets crashing. Fortunately i still am able to work, but that could end if our province enters a lockdown. My wife and I are self isolating as much as we are able. She works from home and I am only in contact with two other individuals at work.

I received word that my grandmother who lives in a retirement community has been under lockdown for a week now due to cases of Covid in her retirement community.

My wife and I have plenty of preserves, non perishable foods, and other necessities. (Enough to last us several months. We have 32 chickens and I stocked up on 3 months worth of feed. Once summer arrives here, the Chickens roam free on my land and feed themselves.

I also plan to enlarge my vegetable garden this year. We try to grow enough fresh produce to preserve and keep throughout the winter. Who knows how bad this is going to get.

Ive not been personally affected yet. I'm good on food and supplies for atleast a month, as long as they dont shut off the power but the local utility company has stated that they will not shut off anyone's power even if they cant pay.

I did have to have dental surgery yesterday, which, was not something i needed to happen right at the beginning of societal lockdown; but atleast I found a dentist and didn't end up in the emergency room with people coughing.

Anyway, there has been 29 cases in my area so far. Atleast 2 deaths - elderly man in hist late 90s and a sick middle-age woman.

What I am most worried about is the state of the public. My work has closed for two weeks until further notice. I don't have any debt, and I have savings, though I sort of wish I had some credit cards right about now. Other people on the other hand have car payments at the very least. Then rent, mortgage, student loans, etc.

I have none of this, but If my co-workers cant work for two weeks, then they lose their car. A little bit worried about burglary and roving gangs, but we're not in a total panic yet.

All restaurants and non-essential businesses closed, especially all the corporate places. There is a stay in place (or do not leave your house) order active in all the big cities, but not here. I believe the Mexican border is still open. Food delivery, etc, still operating as well.

I still remember when the first 3 cases popped up in the city just a few hours away, I wasn't worried about it at all.

I'm one who has spending more quality time with the family and now, homeschooling. It has some stressful moments since there are fewer breaks overall. Food is stocked up through the roof, but husband still has to commute to work. I'm tired at the end of the day though. We have movie night every evening, usually a comedy.

I work in a state prison and we have already been lied to by our "leaders". We were told all transport of state inmates would stop then about 5 days later transport started again without explanation. I trust no one...I believe no one.
