Postal Worker in Michigan Brutally Beaten By Two Women

A postal worker in Michigan was viciously attacked by two enraged women — as an onlooker accused them of trying to steal stimulus checks in the mail carrier’s van, video shows.

But the law enforcement branch of the US Postal Service says there’s “no indication” Thursday’s attack at River Village Apartments in Flint was related to so-called economic impact payments.

The wild footage shows two women repeatedly hitting and punching a USPS worker while she is on the ground.

The female worker tries to fight back as her hair is violently yanked — while one of the women accuses the mail carrier of striking her first, the clip shows.

The bystander recording the footage, which went viral on social media, can then be heard claiming the two women were after the postal worker’s stimulus checks in her dented van.

“Bro, y’all hit the mailman!” the man says. “They tryin’ to get that stimulus … this s–t is serious!”

Another onlooker is also heard saying “y’all going to jail,” according to the chaotic clip.

One woman has since been arrested in the attack, Flint police told The Post Friday. However, Detective Sgt. Tyrone Booth declined to identify the suspect until she was arraigned.

Alleged Intruder Armed with Knife Takes Fatal Head Shot

An alleged intruder armed with a knife took a fatal head shot from a homeowner Tuesday in Escambia County, Florida.

WKRG reports that the suspect, a 54-year-old male, allegedly kicked in the door of the residence then “armed himself with a knife.”

He allegedly made threats against the woman of the house and went “room to room” trying to find her. He discovered her in a back bedroom. She was armed and shot twice at the man out of fear for her life.

One of the shots struck the suspect in the head, killing him.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) commented on the incident, saying, “At the time of the incident, the suspect, had an active Domestic Violence Injunction filed on him. He was also reportedly on his way to anger management treatment when the incident took place.”

The ECSO posted video showing the suspect allegedly kicking in the door to make entrance into the home.

Teen, 18, in an ankle monitor 'snatches four-year-old boy from his bed, stabs him to death and dumps his body on Dallas street in random attack'

    • Four-year-old Cash Gernon was found stabbed to death on a street in southwest Dallas on Saturday morning
    • Darriynn Brown, 18, was arrested and charged with kidnapping and theft
    • Brown is expected to face additional charges pending results of an investigation
    • Police said the child suffered a violent death from an 'edged weapon'
    • Cash was identified by a woman claiming to be his mother, who said Brown broke into her home early Saturday and snatched the child while he was sleeping
    • The woman, who was not named, claimed her son was unknown to Brown and said she had no idea what led the man to target him

A four-year-old boy was found stabbed to death on a Dallas street after he was allegedly abducted from his bed by a teen now facing charges for kidnapping.

A jogger came across the body of Cash Gernon in the city's Mountain Creek neighborhood at around 7am Saturday, Assistant Police Chief Albert Martinez said, adding that it appeared the child suffered a violent death from an 'edged weapon'.

Darriynn Brown, 18, was arrested in the case hours later and was charged with kidnapping and theft. Police said they also anticipate additional charges pending the results of a forensic analysis.

Cash was identified by a woman claiming to be his mother, who told WFAA that Brown had broken into her home through a back door early Saturday morning and snatched the 'happy-go-lucky' child while he was sleeping.

The woman, who was not named and spoke to the outlet off-camera, claimed the boy was unknown to Brown and said she had no idea what led the man to target him.

Dallas police issued an update on Monday afternoon which claimed that a woman named Monica Sherrod had been misidentified by the media as Cash's mom. It's unclear whether Sherrod is the woman who spoke to WFAA.

'Cash was left in the care of Ms. Sherrod by his father unbeknownst to his biological mother, Ms. Melinda Seagroves,' the release said.

'According to Ms. Sherrod, she has not been able to contact the father since his departure from her residence in March 2021.'

The release further explained that Seagroves - the biological mother of Cash and his twin brother - 'has been conducting an extensive search for her sons for an extended amount of time'.

Police said Cash's twin has since been reunited with Seagroves.

The woman who identified herself as Cash's mother had told WFAA that the twin was in state custody.

She said the kidnapping was captured on surveillance video and investigators reportedly asked neighbors for any additional footage that could help shed light on what happened.

Antwainese Square, 39, told The Dallas Morning News she called police after seeing Cash's body on the 7500 block of Saddleridge Road just before 7am while she was out for a run.

She said the boy's face and upper half of his body were covered in blood and that he didn't have shoes or a shirt.

'It breaks my heart,' Square told the newspaper. 'And now I'm afraid. Now I'm paranoid. Because I don't know what happened, I don't know what's going on.

'I mean just knowing that someone out there is capable of killing a child, that alone is just unsettling.'

Martinez, the assistant police chief, said it's believed Cash was killed at about 5am and that he lived in the neighborhood where his body was found.

The boy appeared to have suffered multiple stab wounds.

'We are shocked, we are very angry about what has happened to this small child,' Martinez said.

Some residents told WFAA that Brown was regularly seen in the Mountain Creek area where Cash was killed. Court records showed he lived with his parents about a half-mile from the crime scene.

Neighbor Jose Ramirez called the slaying 'hard to believe' and said: 'I don't think [Brown] was in his right mind.'

By midafternoon Saturday, FBI agents were focusing on a wooded trail not far from where the body was found and police were on horseback in the area.

The trail, which neighbors said is popular for biking, was sealed off with crime-scene tape.

'They were back in the alley, looking through trash containers to see if they could find any type of evidence,' Ramirez said. 'They went down the street, and they spent a good time down there.'

Another neighbor, Katie Guillen, spoke to the outlet when she stopped by a makeshift memorial at the site where Cash's body was found to drop off flowers.

'It's just so sad that someone woke up this morning and lost their child without a warning,' Guillen said.

'How do you throw away someone's body like he's nothing? He's someone's kid.'

Brown was being held Monday in Dallas County jail on $750,000 bond. It's unclear whether he has an attorney.

At the time of his arrest late Sunday night Brown was wearing an ankle monitor stemming from a prior charge for evading arrest in late April, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Auto Shop Vandalized with Racist Graffiti, So the Owner Installed Cameras

A black-owned automobile shop had been targeted for weeks by vandals leaving racist graffiti but the owner set up surveillance cameras, and was surprised to find out the suspects were also black.

The incident unfolded at Dwayne Haynesworth’s Auto Body and Repair Shop in Spring Lake, North Carolina.

They spray-painted swastikas and KKK figures on his cars and left the message, “please leave.”

Haynesworth then set up surveillance cameras to capture images of the vandals.

The video showed two young males who appear to be black trying to steal one of Haynesworth’s cars.

One clue that might have tipped off the police to the incident being not a legitimate instance of white supremacy was that the swastika had one of the arms painted backwards.

Amazon driver attacks 67-year-old woman during delivery dispute

A 21-year-old Amazon driver has been arrested after savagely attacking a 67-year-old customer Thursday following a dispute over a delivery in Castro Valley, Calif.

The driver, Itzel Ramirez, engaged in a heated verbal exchange with the unnamed victim before unleashing a horrific onslaught of punches to the back of the head and the face of the much older woman.

The vicious encounter was caught on video from multiple angles.

Ramirez reportedly verbally berated the victim about her “white privilege” before the attack, according to KTVU FOX2. Police say that the victim may have called the suspect a “b—h” before the exchange turned to fisticuffs.

The Alameda County Sheriff’s Department said that the victim suffered visible injuries and perhaps a broken nose.

“It was frightening to see an Amazon driver do that, somebody who we allow onto the property to provide us a service,” Doug Smith, the owner of the Vista Creek Apartments where the attack took place, told local station KRON4.

The landlord told reporters that the victim is too shaken up to talk to the media about the incident.

He said the fight began when the victim received an alert that an Amazon package she had been waiting for had arrived. But there was no package when she went to the lobby to find it.

The woman questioned Ramirez, standing in the lobby, about the package, when the verbal exchange quickly escalated into violent confrontation.

Ramirez was arrested and is being held on $100,000 bail and will be arraigned Monday on two counts of elder abuse and battery involving serious injury.

“This (incident) does not reflect the high standards we have for drivers who deliver our packages,” Amazon said in a statement. “We take these matters seriously and this individual is no longer delivering Amazon packages.”

Amid Surge in Violent Crime, Atlanta’s Wealthiest Neighborhood Ponders New City

Tim Craig, Washington Post, May 31, 2021

Just a few days after Beth Weaver moved from the suburbs to a new townhouse in this city’s wealthy Buckhead district, she began to worry that she had made a mistake.

One night she sat on her balcony and watched a thief rifle through her BMW. A few weeks later, someone broke into her family’s truck. In November, there was a shootout on her narrow street lined with townhouses that start at a half-million dollars.

“They would come through here on a bicycle and just start picking up packages and right out of your garage in broad daylight,” said Weaver, who lives in the area’s Broadview Place neighborhood.

“You did not feel safe,” said Weaver, whose neighbors have installed a network of surveillance cameras and are pushing city leaders to allow them to gate their development.

That feeling of not being safe has persisted as crime in the city has skyrocketed — the result, some say, of the pandemic and the civil unrest that followed the killing of George Floyd last summer. Some residents and business leaders in this affluent, predominantly White enclave north of downtown think they have a solution: They want Buckhead to become its own municipality.

They contend that with control of their tax dollars, they would be able to better protect themselves than the city has as violent crime — including shootings, car jackings and assaults — surges.

The group, the Buckhead Exploratory Committee, has asked the state for permission to allow its residents to vote on the issue and has raised more than $600,000. The effort, backed by some Georgia Republicans, represents the latest example of a burgeoning “cityhood movement” in the South as municipalities nationwide struggle to understand why crime continues to rise even as life begins to return to normal post-pandemic.

“The mayor and the city council have been making bad decisions, so at what point does anyone with a brain say, ‘Enough’?” said Bill White, chairman of the Buckhead Exploratory Committee. “If crime is out of control, and you are doing nothing about it, you are finished as a city.”

Analysts say the committee faces an uphill battle, but the campaign itself has sparked tension in the majority-Black city, a bustling hub of medical, entertainment and technology companies. To many Black Atlantans, talk of Buckhead leaving is a reminder of the city’s painful and tumultuous civil rights era. It also erodes the sense of unity that many residents felt after the greater Atlanta region rallied to help elect President Biden and two Democratic U.S. senators in November.

Home to about 86,000 residents, Buckhead is anchored by a high-end shopping mall surrounded by 40-story office and luxury condominium towers that give it the feel of an urban playground for the rich. The area’s main commercial district is surrounded by smaller residential developments and strip malls in neighborhoods of tree-lined streets that include some of Atlanta’s most elaborate mansions.

Atlanta annexed the areas that include Buckhead more than 60 years ago as the city was gobbling up territory to better position itself as a powerhouse American city. For decades, Buckhead was one of its safest communities, but today it has become a symbol of Atlanta’s dramatic crime wave, which many describe as “a crisis” that threatens to upend decades of economic progress.

The most populated city in the Deep South, Atlanta has had 54 homicides and more than 250 shootings so far this year, according to its police department. Homicides are up 59 percent compared with the first five months of 2020, a year that itself ended with a two-decade high of 157 killings. Rape, assault and vehicle thefts have increased by more than 30 percent compared with last year.

The crime spike has become a major political hurdle for Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms (D), who in May shocked the city by announcing she would not seek a second term. Now, Bottoms’s policies are dominating the debate over whether she can keep modern-day Atlanta intact by slowing down the efforts of the Buckhead Exploratory Committee.

After Bottoms took office in 2018, she pushed for policies to keep more low-level offenders out of the city’s chronically overcrowded jails, including eliminating cash bail for some minor crimes.

Bottoms was widely praised for her leadership during the initial round of racial justice protests last summer, but her relationship with Atlanta police officers soured last June when she immediately called for the firing of a police officer who had shot and killed an unarmed man in a Wendy’s parking lot.

Morale in the department plummeted, accelerating retirements and leaving Atlanta with 400 fewer officers than the department’s authorized force of 2,046. According to data collected by the city auditor, 341 officers left the force last year, while the city was able to hire just 116.

With some evening newscasts here now devoting entire 30-minute broadcasts to what they bill a “city in crisis” due to crime, a growing number of Republican lawmakers are rallying around those Buckhead residents who are pressing to secede.

Last month, state Rep. Todd Jones (R), who represents parts of north Georgia, introduced legislation that would initiate a study of the matter, the first step toward a possible referendum as early as November 2022. In an interview, Jones said Buckhead residents should be to decide their own futures because Bottoms needs to be held accountable for her decisions, including the partial elimination of cash bail.

So far this year, the police zone that includes much of Buckhead has experienced a 40 percent increase in homicides, a 39 percent hike in robberies and a 64 percent spike in car thefts, according to city statistics.

Residents have also been incensed by a surge in nuisance crimes, including drag racing and unlicensed street vendors, referred to as “water boys.”

According to an analysis by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, if Buckhead were to become its own city, it would be 74 percent White, and its residents would have a median income of $140,000. The proposed Buckhead City would also sap 40 percent of Atlanta’s property wealth. The population of the remaining Atlanta would be 59 percent Black — up from 50 percent — and the median household income would drop to $52,000 from $60,000, the Journal-Constitution concluded.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that GOP legislators have also introduced proposal that would allow four communities in suburban Cobb County to study forming their own governments, which comes after Black women won three of five seats on the county commission in last year’s elections.

The cityhood movement has also resurfaced in other regions of the South, including when 54 percent of residents who lived in a predominantly White neighborhood of Baton Rouge voted to break away from that city. Residents there are now attempting to form their own city, St. George, amid a dispute over school funding.

Postal Worker Badly Beaten by Men on Dirt Bikes

CBS New York, June 30, 2021

A mail carrier is recovering after suffering several broken bones in his face.

Police said he was assaulted by at least two men on dirt bikes and they remain at large, CBS2’s Natalie Duddridge reported Wednesday.

One business owner said he saw a group of several men on dirt bikes riding around a Greenpoint, Brooklyn neighborhood aggressively, right before the assault happened.

Police released new surveillance video that very clearly captures the whole incident. It shows a 57-year-old U.S. Postal Service mail carrier pushing his cart near McGuinness Boulevard and Nassau Avenue at around 6 p.m. on Monday when a man riding a bike illegally on a sidewalk pulls up behind him. The mail carrier is seen swiping at him with his keys and the suspect lashes back at him and then the situation turns violent.

A second man, wearing almost identical clothing as the first — silver helmets and white shirts — joins in and continuously punches the mail carrier. Police said the victim suffered multiple broken facial bones.

Some Greenpoint residents said they are less and less surprised by crime, and feel the city is headed in the wrong direction.

“Now, crazy things happen,” one said.

“The police don’t do nothing, don’t do nothing, nothing, nothing,” another said.

The mail carrier’s next-door neighbor said he spoke to the man’s family who told him they’re tired of the city and are heading for Florida.

“‘We’re leaving New York for good.’ They’re not gonna come back,” Jose Machado said.

Former Nurse Pleads Guilty to Sexually Assaulting Incapacitated Woman

A former nurse in Arizona pleaded guilty Thursday to two felony charges for abusing and sexually assaulting an incapacitated woman who later gave birth, according to the Maricopa County attorney.

The man, Nathan Sutherland, was arrested and charged in January 2019 after DNA evidence tied him to a child delivered by a 29-year-old incapacitated woman who was living at Hacienda Healthcare in Phoenix. She had lived at the inpatient facility since age 3 after suffering brain damage and entering a permanent vegetative state.

Jennifer Liewer, a spokesperson for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, said Sutherland faces five to 10 years in prison for the sexual assault charge and lifetime probation for the vulnerable adult abuse charge.

The state of Arizona, Hacienda Healthcare and others settled for millions of dollars in lawsuits filed by the woman’s family.

Parma Man Gets Upset Black Amazon Driver Threw His "Black Liars Murder" Sign, Calls Police and Fox 8

Ed Gallek, capable of telling half a story with the best of them, recently brought his Fox 8 I-Team crew to Parma to interview a homeowner.

The Parma man is upset, you see, because a Black Amazon driver delivering something to his house noticed that, among his Trump signs and pro-police signs, he had one that read "Black Liars Murder" and took immediate offense, throwing the sign into the street.

The sign, in Gallek's opinion, could possibly be considered racially offensive. It's really a question that's open for debate. But that debate will happen somewhere else, with another audience, because Fox 8 felt it was offensive enough to blur the sign in its video coverage and not even repeat what it said on air or in its story online so that the audience could see for themselves.
