    White Power Music Company Targets Schools With Hate CDs;
    ADL Alerts Educators To Threat

New York, NY, September 27, 2004 … In an effort to attract young people to the music and ideology of neo-Nazi bands, a hate music company with links to dangerous neo-Nazi and skinhead groups plans to distribute 100,000 "sampler CDs" at schools across the United States in the coming weeks.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which tracks the activities of extremists and reports its findings to law enforcement and the public, has been alerting school districts across the country to the planned CD distribution effort, dubbed "Operation Schoolyard USA" by its organizers.

Spearheaded by Panzerfaust Records, a neo-Nazi music label based in Newport, Minnesota, the distribution campaign will target schools with sampler CDs of songs by various white power bands whose music is filled with racist and anti-Semitic themes. The record company plans to draw on a network of "volunteers" from various white supremacist groups to help distribute the CDs at schools across the country. The target audience, according to Panzerfaust, is middle and high school children ages 13 to 19.

"Once again, the hate groups are finding ways to repackage their old-fashioned hatred and anti-Semitism into new, more deceptively attractive forms that can appeal to a younger audience," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. "Instead of handing out leaflets on street corners, they are creating video games and CDs and Web sites whose aim is to attract children by at first concealing their real agenda and message."

Since first learning of the campaign several weeks ago, ADL has been working to notify school officials of the Panzerfaust campaign. In addition, ADL has published on its Web site visuals and information on hate music and an "Educator Alert" to help school officials, parents and caregivers better identify the symbols and warning signs commonly associated with hate music.

"Panzerfaust has intentionally designed its CDs to lure unsuspecting teens with a free giveaway that has the appearance of being just another free compilation of cutting edge music," said Mr. Foxman. "In reality it is a thinly veiled attempt to attract kids to hateful, racist music and white power bands."

In a bulletin to national school officials, ADL explained the campaign's goals: "Panzerfaust hopes to use the hard-driving music to recruit youth to its racist and anti-Semitic ideology, and plans to make the CD readily available on its Web site for just 15 cents, so that white supremacist groups can easily purchase large quantities to hand out to kids. In hopes of disguising the content of the CD, Panzerfaust points out that it has been designed "to be …inconspicuous and not overtly racial… so that it will be able to fly below the radar screen of teachers and other people…."

    Panzerfaust Records

Panzerfaust, which has grown considerably in the last few years, offers for sale CDs from hundreds of hate music bands from the U.S. and abroad. The company is largely run by former members of the virulently anti-Semitic and neo-Nazi National Alliance and now competes with the Alliance's own hate music company, Resistance Records, once the most successful such business in the country.

The Panzerfaust CD distribution was modeled after a project begun by neo-Nazis in Germany, also dubbed "Project Schoolyard," which was thwarted earlier this year after German authorities learned of the plan and confiscated the CDs. While protected by the First Amendment in the U.S., the dissemination of racist and anti-Semitic materials is illegal in Germany.

Panzerfaust has announced the tracks it plans to include on the CD, which includes music from some of the most popular and virulently racist and anti-Semitic white power bands. Tracks on the CD:

    1. Bound for Glory: "Tornado"
    2. H8Machine: "Wrecking Ball"
    3. Max Resist: "Ballad of Johnny Rebel"

    10. Midtown Boot Boys: "White Kids"

For a day or two this was all over the press/news in Minnesota; the funny part of it was on one of the nightly local news they showed a black men who represented some organization of white hate and said something in the regard of when this punk rock music has a catchy beat people will listen to it--funny, he didn't talk of rap being catchy with phrases of violence, sex, drug abuse, etc.., I guess that's not bad--anyway, I got a good laugh when he said it.

I went and found the page on the Panzerfaust site, and at one time I would have been fully behind this. However, seeing all the "lowbrow" stuff on the same page sort of turns folks off. National Alliance here in the US did the same thing at a Celtic Fest. They at least did not put all the immature jokes and elementary reactionary material on their cd's nor on their website. What American racialists need to get, besides beyond rightwing politics, is a Folkish or Folk Centered theme rather then knee-jerk reactionary race-baiting ala Rockwell style.

I think one would be better off making cd's from some "pro-white" or nationalistic songs by bands like Shutdown, maybe some BFG, Berserkr, Skrewdriver, and throw in some other stuff like Jello Biafra to get them thinking beyond left and right. Something that criticizes Capitalism and some anti-Communistic or globalism is what is needed.

It is too bad the "Identitarian" style of music is mostly a European thing and that their lyrics are not in English. Pokerface may be about the best thing we have going on, but even then the songs are a bit too enthralled with Constitutionalism for me and there is not a really solid racial message to them. Too bad. What is needed is something that accomplishes all of these things. The task could be done without the dumb jokes and things of that nature on their page, though still I support the effort I just wished some real thought was put into it to educate the youth rather then just enflame them.
