    The Crop Top Trend

What do you think about this trend? Lately whenever I go shopping for blouses, tops or jumpers, almost everything, and I'm not kidding, is cropped or too short for my taste. Now I'm not exactly a puritan when it comes to fashion, I could say that I'm somewhat conservative in that I don't like showing a lot of skin, I don't wear things like miniskirts or shorts and the like, but otherwise I'm pretty indifferent (i.e. I don't mind jeans/trousers and "modern" type of fashion, as long as it's decent). So what is up? Is today's fashion focused on revealing instead of dressing? It particularly annoys me as oftentimes I find a model, texture or material which I like, but it's always too short. Do you wear crop tops? If you do, any ideas how to make them work?

Yes, I've also noticed an overwhelming amount of cropped fashion. It's not really my taste either, as I don't like exposing my stomach area. However I've seen many women wearing cropped tops, especially teens who expose their belly button piercings.

There's some ways to wear cropped tops without showing much skin, like for example with a high waisted midi skirt or a high waisted pair of jeans, or wearing a cropped sweater over a dress or t-shirt. Here some examples of cropped tops which I find to be acceptable:

Sorry, I didn't read the sub forum seen the word "crop" and thought it was about farming.

    Anyway, my wife shops here:

I consider myself to be too old for crop tops. They're a teenager trend, not to mention inappropriate for where I work. Unless it's a cropped sweater or cardigan, which I wear on top of something else (t-shirt or cami). I usually wear those around the house.

Crop tops aren't usually very flattering on the more generously proportioned ladies I prefer.

I don't like this trend because I don't like to expose a lot of skin either. Aside from the examples Siebenbürgerin provided, I don't think I would like to wear crop tops. If they are too cropped, they can look somewhat cheap. For example I don't understand the function of this one, apart from perhaps keeping the arms warm?

The intended function is drawing attention to one's cleavage, of course.

Agree. People will not wear anything like that back at home .... mosquitos, gadflies, blackflies and deer flies would like that.

I have once visited gym here in Sweden. Maybe it was ''wrong'' place ... but people were there more like showing themselves than training. Some looked my clothes (old sweatpants and old technical t-shirt) with smiling faces.

I believe it's like that in most gyms. Especially women wearing tight leggings (yoga pants) while working out. Never understood how that makes training any more comfortable...

All normal people wants to look good (and also not hide the results they have reached as being in gym) ... nothing bad on those. Results gives motivations to continue. But ... wearing tops like these? I wonder.
