80% of cases seem to be very mild. Many of those quarantined on that cruise ship in Japan and infected were barely sick. About 20% are serious and a 3%-4% death rate, overall, would be 15%-20% of serious cases. For some reason children seem to be mostly immune.

The virus seems to have escaped from a Wuhan bio weapon lab
Odd how these viruses seem to come out of China.

Th stock market is tanking & I wonder how it will affect the election in November. Michael Bloomberg is already trying to exploit the situation. But.... maybe it will kill more Democrats then Republicans.

I had a family trip planned to California (Orange County) at the end of March but we may cancel it if they start closing public spaces in that state.

I don't think this virus is that scary, however, someone should be going to jail for this kind of negligence:

U.S. Health Workers Responding to Coronavirus Lacked Training and Protective Gear, Whistle-Blower Says

WASHINGTON — Federal health employees interacted with Americans quarantined for possible exposure to the coronavirus without proper medical training or protective gear, then scattered into the general population, according to a government whistle-blower who lawmakers say faced retaliation for reporting concerns.

The team was “improperly deployed” to two military bases in California to assist the processing of Americans who had been evacuated from coronavirus hot zones in China and elsewhere, according to a portion of a narrative account shared with Congress and obtained by The New York Times ahead of a formal complaint to the Office of the Special Counsel, an independent government agency that handles federal whistle-blower complaints.

Staff members from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families were sent to Travis Air Force Base and March Air Reserve Base in late January and early February and were ordered to enter quarantined areas, including a hangar where coronavirus evacuees were being received, the complaint said. They were not provided safety-protocol training until five days into their assignment, said the whistle-blower, who is described as a senior leader at the health agency. Link

If only this happened more often in Africa and only coded to afflict them, like the conspiracy theory about AIDS.

Anyway, it's odd if the PRC is trying to infect the world by its own population distribution. Backdraft in biowarfare.

More than 3000 people dead of SARS-CoV-2 now, around 90 000 reported sick.

One does not know how deadly it really is, because one doesn't how many are actually sick. Some are sick without symptoms. If this were some decades ago, this would just have been passed off as another normal wave of the cold.

It will likely become one of the new common cold viruses.

Corona has a low genetic mobility, that means if the virus remains as today it will not mutate much, if at all.
    But this can change.

It's most dangerous for older people, especially if they have underlying disease such as diabetes, or are smokers etc.

Good hand hygiene is the most important, one think the virus transmits via droplets (Coughs, sneeze, talking)

SARS-CoV-2 is the name of the virus, which causes the disease COVID-19.
It seems like these are the naming that will stick.

It's related to the previous SARS virus (Which we don't see anymore), that's why it's named that way.

Coronavirus Could Be The End Of China As A Global Manufacturing Hub

The new coronavirus Covid-19 will end up being the final curtain on China’s nearly 30 year role as the world’s leading manufacturer.

“Using China as a hub...that model died this week, I think,” says Vladimir Signorelli, head of Bretton Woods Research, a macro investment research firm.

China’s economy is getting hit much harder by the coronavirus outbreak than markets currently recognize. Wall Street appeared to be the last to realize this last week. The S&P 500 fell over 8%, the worst performing market of all the big coronavirus infected nations. Even Italy, which has over a thousand cases now, did better last week than the U.S.

    China On Hold

On January 23, Beijing ordered the extension of the Lunar New Year holiday, postponing a return to work. The coronavirus was spreading fast in the epicenter province of Hubei and the last thing China wanted was for that to be repeated elsewhere. Travel restrictions and quarantines of nearly 60 million people drove business activity to a standstill.

The most frightening aspect of this crisis is not the short-term economic damage it is causing, but the potential long-lasting disruption to supply chains, Shehzad H. Qazi, the managing director of China Beige Book, wrote in Barron’s on Friday.

Chinese auto manufacturers and chemical plants have reported more closures than other sectors, Qazi wrote. IT workers have not returned to most firms as of last week. Shipping and logistics companies have reported higher closure rates than the national average. “The ripple effects of this severe disruption will be felt through the global auto parts, electronics, and pharmaceutical supply chains for months to come,” he wrote.

That China is losing its prowess as the only game in town for whatever widget one wants to make was already under way. It was moving at a panda bear’s pace, though, and mostly because companies were doing what they always do - search the world with the lowest costs of production. Maybe that meant labor costs. Maybe it meant regulations of some kind or another. They were already doing that as China moves up the ladder in terms of wages and environmental regulations.

Under President Trump, that slow moving panda moved a little faster. Companies didn’t like the uncertainty of tariffs. They sourced elsewhere. Their China partners moved to Vietnam, Bangladesh and throughout southeast Asia.

Enter the mysterious coronavirus, believed to have come from a species of bat in Wuhan, and anyone who wanted to wait out Trump is now forced to reconsider their decade long dependence on China.

Retail pharmacies in parts of Europe reported that couldn’t get surgical masks because they’re all made in China. Can’t Albania make these things for you? Seems their labor costs are even lower than China’s, and they are closer.

The coronavirus is China’s swan song. There is no way it can be the low-cost, world manufacturer anymore. Those days are coming to an end. If Trump wins re-election, it will only speed up this process as companies will fear what happens if the phase two trade deal fails.

Picking a new country, or countries, is not easy. No country has the logistic set up like China has. Few big countries have the tax rates that China has. Brazil surely doesn’t. India does. But it has terrible logistics.

Then came the newly signed U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement, signed by Trump into law last year. Mexico is the biggest beneficiary.

    It’s Mexico’s Turn?

    Yes. It is Mexico’s turn.

Mexico and the U.S. get a long. They are neighbors. Their president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador wants to oversee a blue collar boom in his country. Trump would like to see that too, especially if it means less Central Americans coming into the U.S. and depressing wages for American blue collar workers.

According to 160 executives who participated in Foley & Lardner LLP’s 2020 International Trade and Trends in Mexico survey, released on February 25, respondents from the manufacturing, automotive and technology sectors said they intended to move business to Mexico from other countries – and they plan on doing so within the next one to five years.

“Our survey shows that a large majority of executives are moving or have moved portions of their operations from another country to Mexico,” says Christopher Swift, Foley partner and litigator in the firm’s Government Enforcement Defense & Investigations Practice.

Swift says the move is due to the trade war and the passing of the USMCA.

The phase one China trade deal is a positive, but the coronavirus - while likely temporary — shows how an over-reliance on China is bad for business.

There will be fallout, likely in the form of foreign direct investment being redirected south of the Rio Grande.

“Our estimates of possible FDI to be redirected to Mexico from the U.S., China and Europe range from $12 billion to $19 billion a year,” says Sebastian Miralles, managing partner at Tempest Capital in Mexico City.

“After a ramp-up period, the multiplier effect of manufacturing FDI on GDP could lead Mexico to grow at a rate of 4.7% per year,” he says.

Mexico is the best positioned to take advantage of the long term geopolitical rift between the U.S. and China. It is the only low cost border country with a free trade deal with the United States, so there you have it.

Thanks to over 25 years of Nafta, Mexico has become a top exporter and producer of trucks, cars, electronics, televisions, and computers. Shipping a container from Mexico to New York takes five days. It takes 40 days from Shanghai.

They manufacture complex items like airplane engines and micro semiconductors. Mexico is the rank the 8th country in terms of engineering degrees.

Multinational companies are all there. General Electric is there. Boeing is there. Kia is there.

"The trade war is yet to be decided, but the damage that has already been done will not be undone. Room for a new key commercial ally is open." - from “The U.S.-China Divorce: Rise of the Mexican Decade”, by Tempest Capital.

Safety remains a top issue for foreign businesses in Mexico who have to worry about kidnappings, drug cartels, and personal protection rackets. If Mexico was half as safe as China, it would be a boon for the economy. If it was as safe, Mexico would be the best country in Latin America.

“The repercussions of the trade war are already being felt in Mexico,” says Miralles.

Mexico replaced China as the U.S. leading trading partner. China overtook Mexico only for a short while.

According to Foley’s 19 page survey report, more than half of the companies that responded have manufacturing outside of the U.S. and 80% who do make in Mexico also have manufacturing elsewhere. Forty-one percent of those operating in Mexico are also in China.

When respondents were asked about whether global trade tensions were causing them to move operations from another country to Mexico, two-thirds said they already had or were planning to do so within a few years. A quarter of those surveyed had already moved operations from another country to Mexico on account of the trade war.

For those considering moving operations, 80% said they will do so within the next two years. They are “doubling down on Mexico”, according to Foley’s report.

Of the companies that recently moved their supply chain, or are planning to do so, some 64% of them said they are moving it to Mexico.

Oh yes, the sucking sound of those Americans jobs into Mexico as Perot warned the US voters. You can thank globalist Daddy Bush and Clinton for signing the NAFTA agreement as most Americans ignored the long-term catastrophic effects. Over the last 25 years, our entire nation ethnically and radically changed along Coastal and Midwestern regions in which the government now allowed more legal immigrants to use work permits to actively take American jobs within the country. Because of large populations crossing the borders daily, they already bring in diseases like Chagas, Measles, TB and Zika. You can add the COVID-19 to the list soon if/when Mexico has an outbreak. One article will say Mexican and Central Americans are overall healthy while others state that they have suffered from lacking health care for years and seek out "free" treatment for self or their children. US towns along the borders can have 9X's higher rates of TB infection than the rest of US. Even a few medical clinics have opened specializing in "rare infectious diseases."

How The Pandemic Crisis Will Probably Develop Over The Next Year

What follows is one of the best-written descriptions of where this coronavirus pandemic will likely take us in the USA. Hint: It’s worse than anything I’ve reported.

Get prepared for medical martial law, government seizure of indy media websites, forced vaccinations, economic collapse, quarantined cities, collapsing food supply lines, social chaos, National Guard troops on the streets of America and more…

How The Pandemic Crisis Will Probably Develop Over The Next Year

    by Brandon Smith

For a while now I have been hearing it said that Americans are “in a panic” over the coronavirus outbreak in the US, and that mainstream media outlets are “feeding the fear”. This is an odd conclusion to come to and something worth noting, because the truth is mostly the opposite. For the past couple of months the WHO, the CDC and even Donald Trump have been dismissing Covid 19 as nothing much to worry about. The WHO actually still refuses to call it a pandemic even though the virus meets all of their own criteria.

Until recently the mainstream media was also been pumping out article after article on why Covid 19 is “no more dangerous than the flu”. With the official death rate at 2.3% to 3% (changing by the week), the virus already has higher mortality than the average flu. If we take into account the fact that multiple medical professionals within China have revealed (despite threats of punishment) that the Chinese government is hiding the true (and much higher) death and infection statistics, then the official data goes out the window. We can’t even trust the infection numbers from the CDC in the US, because they been refusing to test most people unless they have recently travelled to China.

Because of government lies we have to assume that the crisis is more pervasive than we know. And so far the average American is oblivious to it.

While we do see a handful of videos of crowds stockpiling supplies at Costco or Walmart, there simply is not enough of them. Frankly, I would prefer to see a nationwide rush to stock up on necessities; at least then we would know that a large number of people will not starve immediately following a supply chain disruption. The more people that have supplies, the less desperation and potential crime there will be.

Only in the past week have the media and certain government representatives suddenly decided to take the pandemic issue seriously. Why wait until there are large community outbreaks in South Korea, Iran and Italy before instituting some travel guidelines? Why are flights still moving back and forth from these places to the US? Why is Trump’s economic adviser Larry Kudlow
telling the country that the pandemic “is contained” and there’s no threat to the economy? Why is the Surgeon General of the US telling people to ‘Stop buying N95 masks’ because they will not work for you; they only work for medical and CDC professionals? This is warped fuzzy logic, and it’s bizarre.

I believe this behaviour is quite deliberate, and that for the past two months there has been a conspiracy to downplay the danger and keep as many people as possible passive and unprepared. Governments and the media have changed their tune in the past week because the threat can no longer be hidden. The outbreak is here, as we have seen in Washington State where nine people have died already.

So, now that there is no longer any question that the US will experience outbreak conditions, we have to ask how this will play out over the coming months because this will determine how we prepare and what problems we will face. This is how I see the pandemic escalating in 2020…

Multiple Community Outbreaks In The US

Get ready for Washington State to become a large community infection event involving thousands of people. The virus’ incubation period of up to 24 days while a person is still contagious makes isolation and quarantine impossible. What is happening in Washington State will happen in other states.

Going by the speed of the outbreaks in Italy and South Korea, it is likely that two weeks from now the American public will finally realize how bad the situation actually is. The government at this stage will demand “voluntary quarantine” of individuals who think they might have the virus. Testing will finally increase, though hospitals will have to test each person 2-3 times to get accurate results. Expect a lot of false negatives that end up ultimately as positives for the infection.

The government, while admitting that the virus is spreading, will continue to downplay the threat to keep people as apathetic as they can. The authorities will claim that this was done “for the greater good” in order to avoid mass panic, but they don’t care about preventing “panic”, they care about control. The more desperate people are in the aftermath of a crisis the more likely they are to trade their freedoms for some semblance of security.

    Travel Lockdown

Within the next two months we will probably see at least a handful of government enforced quarantines. Watch for checkpoints going up on main roads and highways testing for fever and symptoms, and if you live in a high population area it may be time to get out. The biggest threat may not be the virus but the subsequent economic crash as supply lines are cut off. I find most people are more driven by conscience than we often see displayed in movies and TV shows, but without organization and a move to become self sustainable, some people will inevitably turn to violence to get what they need.

In the span of perhaps three months, the majority of airline flights out of the US will stop. All interstate travel will be restricted. If you need to go somewhere other than where you currently live, now would be the opportunity to do it.

    Vaccine Promises

There will be hundreds of announcements by government officials and the media hinting that a vaccine is “right around the corner”. Don’t believe it. On average a vaccine takes 1 year to develop at minimum. That is the fastest it could be accomplished an this is under the best possible circumstances. Also, keep in mind that Covid-19 has many similarities to SARS, and the last time they tried to develop a vaccine for SARS it caused an “immunopathologic lung reaction” in test animals, meaning a negative reaction that can cause death. They also found the vaccine caused liver damage through hepatitis. I would not trust any vaccine or drug cocktail coming from the CDC and FEMA, especially if it is fast-tracked into existence.

The only purpose to constantly injecting vaccine promises into the public consciousness would be to give people false hope and to make them docile as they sit inactive waiting for the authorities to save the day; as well as to keep stock markets from plunging too fast. The bottom line is, a vaccine can take up to ten years to produce, one year if there is a massive effort and mountains of money invested. There will be no legitimate vaccine in 2020.

    Election Disruption

Donald Trump’s behavior surrounding this event might seem strange to many people as he continues to dismiss virus concerns, shows more interest in the stock market than the health crisis and talks about a vaccine that will not be coming anytime soon.

As I have noted in numerous articles, Trump is a puppet of the globalists and has been for decades. His relationship with the Rothschild banking family goes back to the 1990’s when he was bailed out of his debts in numerous properties in Atlantic City. Rothschild banker Wilber Ross arranged the deal and now Ross is Trump’s Commerce Secretary. The number of CFR members and elites within Trump’s cabinet indicates he is at the very least an unwilling participant, if not completely complicit in the agenda. Trump’s behavior makes sense when this fact is taken into account. Trump’s role is to become a pied piper for conservatives, and as he leads the US into disaster his job is to act as a bumbling villain. As Trump’s image goes down he is meant to drag all conservatives and conservative principles of sovereignty and limited government down with him.

As part of this narrative I do see a chance that Trump will announce “delays” on the 2020 election in November. Do not be surprised if the election is canceled entirely. This would enrage leftists and accusations of dictatorship would be made against Trump. The question is, will a large number of conservatives support the action? Remember, elections are irrelevant; both sides are controlled, but why not use them instigate a civil war within the US on top of the pandemic crisis?

    Alternative Media Shutdown

Liberty websites like mine and many others will eventually be shut down or blocked from public view by the government. They will claim that we are “spreading panic” or “fake news” and “putting the public at risk”. This is what is happening in China and it could just as easily happen here. They will assert that the ONLY authority on the pandemic is the government, and alternative sources cannot be allowed to exist. Anyone that questions the narrative that centralization is the solution will be targeted.

I expect this kind of lockdown of the web closer to election season and the end of the year if the current virus trend continues. Mainstream media and spin control websites will remain intact. Their job will be to flood the public with false news stories and maintain government dominance of the narrative.

At this point the only way to get legitimate information to the average person would be Ham radio networks, which the FCC will attempt to interfere with also (though this would be very difficult).

    The Extent Of The Crash

An economic crash is built into this event. There is no way around it, and I am not simply talking about stock markets, which are a meaningless trailing indicator. With supply chain and labor disruptions central banks can do nothing to intervene, and stimulus measures would be pointless except as a placebo for the masses. But how bad will it actually get?

I am doubtful of total breakdown of government unless there is a larger scale rebellion against martial law measures. The system will remain somewhat functional, but constantly inadequate to help the public. The system’s only purpose will be to keep people inactive and in check as their prospects turn worse and worse. Agencies like FEMA and the CDC will attempt to herd the public into “treatment centers” and camps in the worst hit areas. Gun confiscation on the grounds of “national emergency” provisions will eventually be suggested as some people will resist. If you and your community have had success in self quarantine do not expect to be left alone. In fact, expect interference that will put you and your community at risk.

Finally, a “solution” will be presented to the world by global institutions like the WHO and the IMF. As the globalists suggested in their “Event 201”pandemic exercise which simulated a coronavirus outbreak killing 65 million people and was staged TWO MONTHS before the real pandemic started, the great fix will be to form a global financial authority to manage the response. And thus we see the beginning of global governance…

The solution to the problem is not more centralization, more globalization and more government power; the solution is decentralization and localized response. The solution is for people to be less dependent on the system and more self sufficient. And, the solution is self quarantine organized around a local model, not federal government enforcement. If these measures are not taken soon by individuals with foresight, the elites within the establishment will make this particular crisis into a hell on earth for everyone.

How European Populists Are Using Coronavirus as a Political Tool

As more European countries announce coronavirus cases, Europe’s populist politicians are attempting to use the health crisis to serve their own political goals.

The COVID-19 virus affects about 86,000 people, 90 percent of whom are in China’s Hubei province, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

More than 3,000 people have died from the virus, the overwhelming majority of them in China.

For Matteo Salvini, Italy’s former interior minister and leader of the far-right League party, the epidemic provides an opportunity to persuade Italians that their pro-European government is failing.

“If [Prime Minister Giuseppe] Conte is not able to defend Italy and Italians, he should step aside,” Salvini said, at the end of February.

“The infection is spreading. I want to know from the government who has come in and gone out. We have to seal our borders now.”

Italy on Tuesday surpassed Iran with the highest death toll outside China.

While anti-Chinese sentiment has spread worldwide, Salvini has also been stoking fears about African asylum seekers arriving in the country from Libya.

“Allowing migrants to land from Africa, where the presence of the virus was confirmed, is irresponsible,” Salvini told reporters last month.

At that time, Egypt was the only country to have reported one confirmed case. Since then, a handful of cases have appeared across the continent.

Two NGO rescue boats, Doctors Without Borders’ (Medicins sans Frontiers, MSF) Ocean Viking and Sea Watch 3, have been blocked in two Sicilian ports since February 23 and 27 respectively, as their passengers were placed under quarantine for two weeks.

The rescued migrants and refugees were brought to a nearby centre, while their crews are still on board. As a result, no NGOs are operating in the central Mediterranean. No cases of the virus have been detected on board.

“To put a rescue boat in quarantine is like stopping an ambulance in the middle of an emergency,” MSF Italy wrote on Twitter.

Free movement is one of the European Union’s fundamental principles.

In France, the leader of the far-right Rassemblement National (National Rally), Marine Le Pen, criticised President Emmanuel Macron‘s government for allowing Italian football fans to attend a match in Lyon last week, arguing that “a border protects populations, whatever the situation.”

Far-right parties in Germany and Spain have called for a suspension of the Shengen agreement, which allows passport-free travel among 26 member states in the European Union, criticising European leaders for prioritising the “dogma” of open borders over citizens’ health.

Some European health ministers, meanwhile, have reinstated their commitment to safeguarding free movement.

Andrea Ammon, director of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), said suspending the Shengen agreement was “not justified from a scientific perspective.”

Shengen rules allow countries to reinstate temporary border checks in case of exceptional threats to public policy or internal security. Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Norway and Sweden have had them in place since 2015, the start of the refugee crisis.

“There has been a quasi-authoritarian push in some countries to close borders, and people like Salvini have used it to say migrants should not be let in,” Andrea Mammone, a lecturer in modern European history at Royal Holloway, University of London, told Al Jazeera. “But he can use it up to point, since most of the cases are in northern Italy.

“At the EU level, the strategy has been to avoid spreading panic.”
