    PISA 2018 Results

The OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) examines what students know in reading, mathematics and science, and what they can do with what they know. It provides the most comprehensive and rigorous international assessment of student learning outcomes to date. Results from PISA indicate the quality and equity of learning outcomes attained around the world, and allow educators and policy makers to learn from the policies and practices applied in other countries. This is one of six volumes that present the results of the PISA 2018 survey, the seventh round of the triennial assessment. Volume I, What Students Know and Can Do, provides a detailed examination of student performance in reading, mathematics and science, and describes how performance has changed since previous PISA assessments.

Haven't had time to look these new results any deeper, but based on earlier once and short comments now (in media).... I assume Finns girls still compete/succees equally with best of Asians (only Europeans?)but boys are far behind. Already last time the gap between genders were clearly biggest in Finland (in
Europe and not talking about the top countries in Asia) and now they said that same gap has just grown.

Looks like that is still true. The gap is very large for reading. The value below is the average girls' score minus boys'

It's interesting that Finland is on an obvious declining trend. The only other country I saw with such an obvious trend was my homeland of Australia.

Is there no African countries listed or am I overlooking something?

Especially as all Finland's students will go through similar public school system (and have same curriculum).

1.) Influences of globalization => cost savings through society => bigger classes (more students/teacher) etc.

2.) Immigrant students whose skills in Finnish (or in Swedish) are low. ''Stealing'' more time from teachers.

3.) Immigrant students who comes from different cultures/homes (attitude against education and discipline differs from local people) => disturbing lessons.

Sweden has already needed to downgrade their curriculum...

Morocco is down there near the bottom. But no sub-Saharan countries. I'd imagine their results are literally off the charts.
