There's an excellent website with all the old classics called Board Game Geek

I use it quite a lot and the game shown is called 'Fishing', which I remember playing around the age of 11 or 12. For purely nostalgic reasons I bought one for about 30 quid on eBay last year

Totopoly is another of my favourites ...

I have an attic full of stuff like this. I'm hoping to play them all with my grandkids one day, although the OP doesn't inspire much hope

Playing with more people is nice when one also adds the Towers expansion and/or Dragons. This gets too vast however for two people. And you need a big table in any case^^

But it's a well designed small strategy game.

We also have this funny little game, Small World

Comes with map designs from 2-4 people again and ends after 8 rounds, so unlike many other games it's not "open end".
It's a sort of krude mix of "role play" (race & modifier abilities that are rather random in combination), short-term strategy and conquest game.

Layout for 4 people and a new version

As a child I often played Halma with my grandma

And I liked doing puzzles a lot as a kid

Usually the 1000 piece variant, the biggest I did was a 3000 and that was tricky, because they really dont fit on the average table, and occupying a table with an extra piece of wood for weeks wasnt fun either, so I sticked with the 1000.
