How Do You Prepare For The Moment Of Death?

In all spiritual traditions, the moment of death, along with the rituals made with this occasion, have a special place. In different spiritual traditions and philosophies, there are different certain ways to prepare for this moment.

How do you prepare for the moment of death? Do you feel ready for it?

Death can come unexpectedly, in any moment, we can never know when it comes. People die of natural causes, at old age, or it can happen by accident. The certain thing is that we never know how, where and especially when it will happen. So this is why many philosophies and spiritual traditions consider it is very important to be prepared for it in every moment, so when it comes, we will be properly prepared and ready for it.

With this question I mostly mean spiritual preparations, but also physical ones, in this material world. Some people want to leave everything properly done before they leave this world, so this could also be a sort of preparation.

    So...?

Maybe the thought of death sounds a bit scary for many, but it's a natural thing and it will happen for sure. It's very important to be ready.

I make sure I have a three-day bag packed and ready to go. You never know how long it's going to take to get to those Pearly Gates. Traffic might be bad that day.

The best way to prepare for death is to lead an unpredictable life. I study the Joker character every waking moment when I'm not occupied with Hitler. I'm also considering emulating Joachim Phoenix's method of studying political assassinations, there's actually a lot one can gleam from that. I'm particularly interested in Georg Elser's case. Hitler made the decision to stand out in public, without surrounding himself with police or resorting to gun-proof cars, from a study of Rathenau's assassination.

The greatest gift I've received from Joker was the concept of a dead-man's switch. I want my death to be a catalyst for something greater. I've obviously factored in reincarnation.

Live as though you will go before the Ancestors and Gods. Make every thought pure, every action honorable. And, if possible, mark yourself for Odin just before you go.

I have no preparations for my own death .

    No siblings left behind .

Society will have to take care of my left behinds .

Unfortunately , but not changeable .

I'm always astounded by people's lack of preparedness for their own death.

My Mum & Dad were both in denial, almost until their final day, and they left their personal affairs in a terrible state.

They didn't even update their wills, which dated back to 1972 and since neither I nor my brother were old enough to be executors at that time they appointed an older cousin as our 'guardian' to oversee the inheritance etc..

    1. Live your life to the fullest, try to give 100% in absolutely everything you do
    2. DO NOT leave questions about spiritual practice till the last minute and be grateful for everything you have
    3. DO NOT constantly ruminate over your own mortality
    4. Make a will, keep it updated, leave some money/insurance to cover your funeral costs. Take care of your debt before you die, don't take out a zillion mortgages on your house and leave your children with a mess, it will sour their memory of you and it will interfere with their grieving process.
    5. Make it a point to create and uplift rather than deconstruct, not everyone can be famous but anyone can set a good example
