    When the Power Goes Off

Although our power hasn't failed yet today cause of the scary storms we've been having here, we are prepared for when that does happen with these cool lanterns and flashlights.

The small and bright (like me ) Lux-Pro 1,000 lumen adjustable lanterns are both rechargeable and can also operate on three C batteries.

The 1,000 lumen flashlights have detachable diffusers, and emergency signal modes. They use four AA batteries.

Not all in life is at it appears to be.

Flashlights help to get around but not sufficient for normal living.

While living in California, far away from the city, we had many brownouts and total failures sometimes for hours. I had a 7kW portable generator that kept everything going, fridges, lightning, TV, etc.... It was a hassle to get all the extension chords in place.
This year I will install a permanent automatic backup generator like this one

You have a choice between gas, diesel or propane.
The prices are reasonable and will not break your bank account.

Oh, we have a portable generator, a really nice two-burner propane range, a gas heater, and five pretty oil lamps too. But the brilliant illumination provided by the long life LED lanterns (we have several more ) and flashlights provides all the light we need regardless of the length of the power failure. And they are much safer to use, especially since we have so many feline friends scurrying around.

Good for you, you are all set. I wish more people would prepare for the worst.

Battery working led-lights are pretty handy & good today (we have now small ones in our tents and two bigger one in outside for evenings) .

At home? We have this. Diesel engine generator. Milk etc. needs to stay cold (no matter what):

As living in country side ... if storm will make damages ... my home area will always be the one of the last areas they will start to look for/repair.

Luckily Finland is changing/taken off all its electric cables from sky...

... and move them to go under the ground (being safe for weather problems).

Finland just is some 10 years behind of Sweden in that process . Electricity companies have made (all the time) lots of money here, so they could have started that huge investment earlier like Sweden did ... but I guess electricity companies CEO's personal bonuses were more important ... to those CEOs.

America is so vast it would take a couple of centuries to upgrade all of the railroads, and wiring.

Well, I'm sure you need to be doing just fine there ...

Incl. putting electric/power lines going under the ground .... I mean you in the end have ten or hundreds times harder storms than us here (especially the hurricanes south/south east).

Oddly these lines (in USA) looks old, worse and even dangerous:
