    New Dell G3 3590

I ordered a new Dell G3 3590 from the AAFES exchange service on-line last Friday. I got a good price on it and buying from a Military Exchange is tax free with free shipping.

The only laptops I've owned to date are Lenovos. I have a T500 as a living room computer, a T510 that runs iTunes in my den, another T510 in the train room, and my T520 that sits on my desk in the den that is my everyday work horse system.

This is my first Dell and I"m very impressed with the price to performance ratio that Dell provides with this system.

It is spec'ed with the 9th generation Intel i7 9750H processor (4.6 Ghz in Turbo mode), 16GB of RAM and a 500GB SSD. Extras are a lighted keyboard as seen in the photos, a FHD 1920x1080 60hz display, USB 3.0, Bluetooth 5.0, camera, HD audio, and the rest of the usual's found on a new system this year. A lot of bang for the buck.

Video is handled by the Nvidia 1660Ti with 6MB of dedicated video memory. It"s a great laptop card. I ran a demo of X-Plane 11 flight simulator on max settings with iTunes running and 6 Chrome tabs open and it never flinched. Frame rate was better than 100 FPS.

I bought the Dell because I couldn't touch a Lenovo for almost twice the price with these specs. The i7 9750H benches twice as fast as the i7 2760QM Quad Core in the T520 and the screen resolution is much better. RAM is the same, as are the hard drives.

The keyboard could use just a bit more travel on the key stroke, but it's just something to get used to. The Lenovo's and IBM's before them from the T520 on back had the best mechanical keyboards in the business, but they don't come with them anymore and I doubt their diaphragm keyboards are any better than the G3 keyboard. Which is pretty good actually.

What I really like is the lighted keyboard that can be controlled for on/off times and on/off in both AC and DC from the BIOS. I have mine set for always on when using AC and a 20 second timeout on DC. On/off can still be controlled manually from a keyboard command at will too.

Dell did an outstanding job putting this system together and the price point is right on the money. I love it.
