Yes. An individual requires certain physical attributes, a calm disposition, combined with innate skills that can be honed to create a successful long range killer.

However, most combat scenarios, where dense forests, and urban settings provide adequate concealment, engagements are still fought at distances between 25-100 yards, which is still within the effective range of sub-machineguns.

During the Algerian war in the fifties I was equipped with a 9mm MAT-49, the best weapon those days to mow down our adversaries. I depended on it, never jammed, lightweight and just a few parts to assemble and disassemble.

However, we also learned that one has to aim if one wants to maim.

While I have used a scoped .243 bolt-action rifle for precision shooting, I now practice regularly with a customized AKM that is equipped with a nitride barrel:

Yes. With properly matched ammo, such as PPU makes, I can regularly achieve 1" groups at 100 yards, which is more than acceptable for any combat or hunting rifle.
Look what you had to do get the 1" groups, that is way more than the average mass shooter would ever do. I bet you have more $ in that rig and ammo than I do in my HK G3 stock combat model and I get 3" groups at 500 meters with German issue optic and stand issue rounds.

I do hope you're not going to try to turn this into another 'my balls are bigger than yours' kind of senseless thread debate, SpearBrave, because I won't even begin to go there. Understood?

No doubt. I shouldn't have to remind you that there is a distinct difference between a full-size .308 battle rifle and a compact assault rifle.

Now, when LillyCaterina previously informed you that I achieved 1" groups with my AKM, you claimed "all AK-47 rifles are junk".

Fine. I can accept that you harbor a personal dislike for these rifles, so don't belabor the point.

No, As I said if someone wants to own one I'm fine with it, I have owned several myself over the years, however don't put the AK and all it's variations on some pedestal. I stated they are junk and they were designed to be so, it went with the Soviet theory of the time to arm as many people as possible as cheaply as possible.

Oh, the AK was and is still considered main battle rifles by many countries. Why do you think there are so many of them.
