Compare this to the roughly 2.7 million tons (!!) of bombs the US and UK dropped on Germany and you get an interestingly lopsided view of things we are never told.
From what I understand, aerial bombing was needed to displace German regiments and positions, because US Army would have such a difficult time fighting against them and US regiments would even route against some of the most Veteran German regiments and Waffen-SS. Also, it was most likely to scare civilians and keep productivity in the region down. In shows like Band of Brothers and movies like Saving Private Ryan, it portrays the Germans acting so stupid, but in reality the US Army wished they were that stupid back then.

Now, with Germany throwing its own collective mind into lockdown I fear its days as a world leader will never return.
Huh, what golden age? As long as Germany was dominated by a democratic equality complex (whether democracy or monarchy), it ostracized almost all of it's great men. Frederick the Great's reign was an exception.

The only purpose of Allied bombing was to kill as many civilians as possible. One fighter pilot summed it up this way.
"Don't tell me the purpose of allied bombing was to destroy industry. If you gave me 500 pound bomb I could fly it though a window
with my P-51. The Purpose of strategic bombing was to kill as many civilians as possible."

The Dresden bombing was a good example.

Not to stray off topic, but US and German squad tactics at the time were very similar, with US actually having the upper hand because of M1 Garand, but it was counter balanced by the German MGs. The Germans had the advantage in that they were in defense as opposed to assault.
Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.
