These are of course generalizations, and not from every era, and it's mostly Western, but this image is hopefully useful to anyone interested.

Seems to really go downhill after ArtDeco. I find modern buildings to be ugly as hell. A lot of it of course is just cost cutting. Some newer buildings don't even have a finished look about them, exposed ceilings with air ducts and ceiling exposed etc. But the look of their exteriors as well is awful.
I grew up on a belief of honour, courage and the old world values. The world isn't about that anymore, preferring to die a slow death of fast food and cheap thrills.

It's so difficult to select a favourite! Lately I've been enamoured of National Romanticism, with its decorative ornamentation derived from folktales and myths. Neo-Renaissance is quite breathtaking, too. On the other hand, I generally dislike Functionalism and Modernism.

Brutalism for me, but I wonder why there is no actual Futurism on that list. Is it because Futurism has not really existed IRL, but instead mostly in artwork? Or is the Neo-Futurism on that list actually a second attempt to bring this to reality?

If there was some combination of Brutalism and Futurism, that exits in the real world, it would be a dream.
