Tom Holland wants a gay Spider-Man and more diverse Marvel heroes because the world isnt as simple as a straight white guy

The 'Far From Home' star said Marvel will be "representing lots of different people in the next few years"

Spider-Man actor Tom Holland is throwing his support behind a gay version of the web-slinging superhero.

Speaking to Britains The Sunday Times, the Spider-Man: Far From Home star said that the Marvel Cinematic Universe needed to show that the world isnt as simple as a straight white guy.

Asked by the Times if he would be okay with Peter Parker/Spider-Man being gay, Holland said, Yeah, of course.

I cant talk about the future of the character because honestly I dont know and its out of my hands, Holland continued. But I do know a lot about the future of Marvel, and they are going to be representing lots of different people in the next few years.

He added: The world isnt as simple as a straight white guy. It doesnt end there, and these films need to represent more than one type of person.

Marvel Studios executives have openly said that the studio plans to introduce more diverse superheroes in the next phase of films.

Victoria Alonso, Marvels production chief, told Variety in March that the world is ready for a gay superhero in the MCU.

Our entire success is based on people that are incredibly different, Alonso said, adding, Why would we only want to be recognized by only one type of person? Our audience is global, is diverse, is inclusive. If we dont do it that way for them, we will fail.

She also referenced rumors that Marvels upcoming The Eternals film would feature the MCUs first openly gay hero, saying the studio would cast the best Eternals cast that we can.

Reports emerged that the studio was looking for actors of all ethnicity and would prefer the role to go to an openly gay actor.

Marvel received some LGBTQ backlash earlier this year for featuring the MCUs first openly gay character in Avengers: Endgame.

Rather than a major moment for LGBTQ inclusion, background character Grieving Man was ridiculed for his insignificance and for being portrayed by one of the films heterosexual directors, Joe Russo.

But Marvel Studios seems committed to doing better. Studio president Kevin Feige told io9 last month that Grieving Man, included in a group therapy session with Captain America (Chris Evans), was never meant to be our first focused character. That was just meant to be a matter of fact and a matter of life and a matter of truth.

And I liked it that our hero, Steve Rogers, doesnt blink an eye at that fact, Feige said. It is just truth and is heartbreaking for his loss and for the life hes trying to put back together. It was never meant to be looked at as our first hero. I guess its the first reference so it does, of course, get a lot of attention.

Feige added that the studio hasnt been shy about saying that thats coming and that theres much more prominent LGBT heroes in the future, and that its coming soon.

Brie Larson, titular star of Captain Marvel, also said that she wants better LGBTQ representation in MCU films.

I dont understand how you could think that a certain type of person isnt allowed to be a superhero, she told Variety in April. So to me its like, we gotta move faster. But Im always wanting to move faster with this stuff.

Just what the world needs- another gay man in a spandex bodysuit.

Of course, we already have the Ambiguously Gay Duo.

From what I've heard most Hollywood people essentially are simply male and female prostitutes. Just what we need more homo
    propaganda for kids.

Superheroes have always been about getting people to accept outsiders and misfits.

That said they were also all created by straight, white men. And then Hollywood and the SJW's like to carry on about cultural appropriation!
I grew up on a belief of honour, courage and the old world values. The world isn't about that anymore, preferring to die a slow death of fast food and cheap thrills.

The original Spider-Man was straight and even had TWO women competing for him

Marvel have completely destroyed this character (..along with many others!) just to put across a political message.

One could argue that the first superhero was the Scarlet Pimpernel. And one could hardly consider him a (proto) white liberal. Considering he was mostly about rescuing French aristocrats fleeing from the French revolutionaries.

Now if you are talking about Superman, created as some kind of reflection of the immigrant experience by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Themselves both the children of Jewish immigrants. Or Captain America, a creation of Jack Kirby and Joe Simon to serve as pro-war propaganda. And whose parents where also Jewish immigrants. Or Stan Lee, the creator of among comic book figures spiderman. And I am not going to say the background of his parents, because you have probably noticed the trend already. Then you have a point.

Lets see, you got Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane Watson, Felicia Hardy. And those are the ones I am know of. So there are at 3 women who want his heart. And as far as I know he still straight. Unless they pulled him being gay out of thin air, just like they did with iceman.

Now Marvel has always been a bit white liberal. Alto in the years before and Trump and definitely after 2016 they dialled it up to 11. Alienating a lot of the older fan base who where still buying and reading the comics. And now it is slipping in to the movie franchises as well. And alto it might draw in certain groups, chances are the general audience for super hero movies will start staying home when they start to push their political agenda more and more.

Does he (Holland) actually believe the shit coming out of his month or is he just saying what is expected? Why is he commenting? Why do entertainment reporters ask these questions? To me it seems that the MSM is always asking risky questions to try and trip up public figures, be they in politics, entertainment or business, into saying something that can ruin their careers. Pick a topic out of thin air over anything that may be controversial in the hopes of getting a political incorrect response & being at the center of a "news story". The MSM is the enforcer for the cultural-marxist oligarchy & this is how they enforce. Some public figures try to avoid this. Taylor Swift was politically neutral for years and was criticized for it. Now, after plenty of pressure being applied, she has come out as pro-LGBT in a big way & she may pay the price by turning off fans who did not want to hear about her (or maybe not her's) political & social views.
