    Hip Flask Does and Don'ts

Been using a flask for years, do you carry one?

Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

I don't have one but have pondered getting one sometimes. When I go to the Highland Games there are inevitably some flasks for sale. They look like they'd fit nicely in the sporran.

I don't tend to drink hard liquor (mostly various beers) but certainly having some whisky or brandy in one of these would be good at times (not much volume so you'd need something at least 40% hehe).

I'm generally all about ice-cold vodka, but if I were to carry a flask I'd have it loaded up with some decent bourbon.

I think the whole flask idea is for a quick gulp ... hard liquor being high percentage maybe like a beer's worth in a gulp LOL ....... don't want to carry a six pack of beer around :-D

The last highland games near me I went to , the local-ish craft brewery wasn't there and all they had was "Canadian" and Coors lite" for beer! That's bloody pathetic and at more than $5 for a not-bottle's-worth size ... that just upset's my Scottish fruegel genes!

Well I walked off to the beer store, got some German beers (I know... should have got Scottish beers but Belhaven Stout was not exactly what I wanted in the warmer daytime). I ended up going into the port-a-potties and pouring my beer into my metal water cask so I could drink it out in the open. That sounds pretty pathetic haha (not just sounds ... but was! But I'm not paying over $5 for less than a can of crappy North American lager like "Canadian" and "Coors Lite"). Really, why can't we just drink some beers or whatever at these things.

Now the lesson here is this. I should have had a small flask with 40% whisky tucked away and nobody would have even been aware and I would have been more authentically Scottish to boot! Next time ;-)

    ----------------------------------------------------------

Bloody hell, I want to go to an authentic Oktoberfest in Germany with big Maßkrugs of one litre of beer brought to your table by "healthy looking" German lasses. That's one thing I want to do in this life time for sure. I want to do the competition of holding your Maßkrug of beer out for as long as you can! Now that looks like fun!

Sadly, if I'm in Germany with too much beer I might start rambling and spouting off my historical and political ideas (luckily only in English which hopefully most people won't fully understand especially interspersed with a generous sprinkling of the word "bloody" mixed in ... but I'd potentially be arrested! LOL. I'd end up on the news ... I can see the false biased headline now: "Canadian right wing racist anti-semite tourist arrested in Germany after drunken rampage ranting about 9/11, Hitler, Stalin, Churchill and Zionism!" ~ LOL the very image of this is amusing (since it hasn't happened) [I don't actually consider myself "right wing" , "racist" or technically "anti-Semitic" (since Semites include Arabs and I am very against all these wars against nations by the US and Israel's pressure.)

Oh well, I guess I'll just get some DAB or Wernesgruners and watch Oktoberfest vids on Youtube

Real moonshine cannot be sold in stores it's illegal. The definition of moonshine is illicitly distilled spirits. It's proof or AVB varies from maker to maker generally in the range from 60% to 85% or 120 to 170 proof. Good "shine" is hard to come by, most don't use good ingredients or good practices. I know somebody that makes his from fruit and it's like high proof Bavarian Schnapps.

I grew up in a household where there was plenty of Schnapps, usually made from Cherries (Kirschenwasser) or Mirabellen. I have not seen any Mirabellen in the US. Love that fruit.
