Would You Name Your Children After Any Germanic/Norse Gods ?

I really like the idea of having a daughter named Freya or even Idun, one day.

    Anyone else ?

    That's a good idea.

I like the name Odin, but maybe for a middle name (for a boy).

I can't really think of many names of Norse gods that would be suitable for English children, although a few of them might be okay as middle names.

I'll have to give this some more thought

Luckily I have Swedish family name so that would sound ''ok''. And even better if I would marry Norwegian or Icelander man. LOL.

I'd be careful about that people have gotten their kids taken away for things like that.

Tor, Brage and Lars are fairly common names here in Norway, I've met a few Embla's and Idunn's too.

Most likely I will use some name of ancestors for my children.

Aries is Frigg , married to Odin ...

Might be some "13" in there ...

What is that 'Lars' for a God , then ?

    Aasa , Åsa , probably ...

By the way , where is a listing of Germanic God names ,
    here on Skadi ?

    Out off memory :

    Tyr
    Odin , Wotan
    Thor , Donar
    Forseti, Widdar
    Njørdr , Ögir
    Freyr
    Forseti, Widdar
    Uller
    Hejmdahl
    Loki
    Baldur
    Hørnur

    For the girls
    partly had to look up
    http://www.science-at-home.de/wiki/i...dische_Götter) :

    Frigg
    Idun, Skadi, Sif
    Eir, Sif
    Skadi
    Sol, Urd, Nerthe
    Freya
    Syn
    Hel, Urd
    Sif, Sigyn, Snotra
    Snotra
    Snotra
    Saga

Overall , Snotra could be bullied with
"Schnotter" running nose at winter times ,
Sif as "Siff" meaning mess of liquids (wet garbage) .

Personally under different circumstances , probably ,
and years ago , I somehow would have given
Old Testament names , since that would not have a bad reputation
with all the Nazi and Hollowcase culture around ,
but at the moment , it would be probably some historic family name .

The Lord of the Rings and Silmarillion really have a broad range of names ,
but would be not considered at current times .

My guess is , that 4 names should be minimum , to be able to select
one , that is most appropiate at times .
Mk 10:18 What do you call me a good master, no-one is good .
