Masonic Symbols in The Lord of the Rings

So I recently saw part of one of the Lord of the Rings films and I realized that Tolkien had included many thinly veiled references to Freemasonry in his work. And in every example that I can think of, Masonic symbols are associated with the story's villains. Here's a few examples that I noticed:

    1. The Eye of Sauron & the Eye of Masonry.

One of the most common Masonic symbols is an eye looking down from the top of a pyramid. In LOTR, the villain Sauron chooses to symbolize himself as an all knowing eye which looks down from the top of a tower.

    2. The Moria Arch & the Royal Arch of Masonry

The heroes of LOTR must cross under a strange gateway in Moria. Tolkien's sketches, and the model used in the films, are clearly based off of the Masonic Arch symbol. They both even include a smattering of stars near the top.

    3. The Two Towers of LOTR & Two Masonic Pillars

The second volume of the LOTR series is called 'The Two Towers' in reference to the evil twin structures which acts as the headquarters of Sauron and Saruman. One of the most common Masonic symbols is a pair of pillars.

    4. The Palantirs & the Masonic Sphere

The Palantirs of LOTR resemble the Masonic Spheres which sit atop Masonic Pillars (admittedly this one is a bit of stretch).

It's worth pointing out that Tolkien was a Catholic and most Catholics of his era were at least somewhat skeptical of Freemasonry.

Both of my Grandfathers were devoted Catholics and both of them despised freemasonry. I personally don't know enough about freemasonry to form an opinion on them other than individuals I have met over the years. I do know they are not loyal people or people that can be trusted.

I do see the resemblances you stated, but I must point out the hidden gate was not designed to be evil but as a friendship bond between the Elves and Dwarves. Also one of the two towers was built by the men of Gondor and was not originally evil.
Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

    Saruman the White

Westernis as "America" , the final destiny of
the fellowship , the fellowship of the Disciples
    of Christ ...

Westernis as Eternal Hunting Grounds , as Heaven ,
as Christ went to at "Himmelfahrt" ...

Gandalf the Gray , Sauron the Black , Saruman the White ...
    Smaug the flaming Dragon ...

Many evil names start with the letter 'S' , like "Satan" does ,
and Gandalf starts with the letter 'G' , as the word 'Gad' or 'God' for
the Old Testamental tribe , likely Aquarius beneath Kepheus ,
for Peter titled "Satan" by Christ .

Bilbo Baggins as 13th desciple , the one with the
    money bag , sack , wallet , portemonnaie ,
paying the bills as book keeper , as an
opposite story about the evil 'Judas' ...

Evil folks as Mongol Easterlings on Ancient Egypt Chariots ,
evil Haradrim from the Southern Deserts on Asian Indian
    War Elephants ...

Overall , Mr. Tolkien has some features incorpirated into
his fiction , that could crash on him as it did for Herge's Tintin
and Astrid Lindgreen's Pippy Longstocking .

For the Freemaster's Symbols , one could find 'pillars' mentioned
in the Story of Samson in the Old Testament .

For the "Master-Sonic Sphere" , that is likely some cult device ,
like the Cross or the Me-Norah ...

Alan Oslo : Freimaurer , ISBN 3-491-96059-2 , reads on the backside
of the covering "Why were [list of important titles like monarchs]

catholic church, fascism and communism were prohibiting and
    prosecuting ?
Mk 10:18 What do you call me a good master, no-one is good .
